Jorge's Documentary "Jorge"

yeah wtf! such things should only be published if your last name happens to be rossi
<
<

looking forward to seeing it
<

Glad he won it instead of Dani cause instead of a documentary of Pedrosa I am sure it would have turned into one about PUig, LOLOL.

Looks like Dani has a book out too ...

Good on him really, the least "wankiest" of the all I suppose
<
<
<

Probably written by his girlfriend ......... you just know she has to play out some crazy little games/stories when they are "on the job" ...... you guys always say he is a robot ........ well she obviously sees him as a "mechanical elf"

Have you seen who produced it? Dorna and a Spanish TV. They have to have another star ready for the moment Valentino retires. At the moment their best bet is Jorge, but that's more for lack of a viable alternative than for Jorge's (less than irresistible) charisma. It's not so easy to find someone who is a winner and also a born media star.
<

Maybe, in the future... maybe Scott Redding. But he needs time and luck.

Dorna is Spanish, the Spanish have been pining for a GP star for a long time. They are a desperate people. I guess they are soakin it up now cause its over for next year.

Hehe, haters gonna hate.

Sorry, couldn't resist it....

Not hatin' so your statement is unfounded. I just lost a bit of whatever I had for him because he is trying to be Valentino. It is so obvious that he is so it isn't like I am dreaming this up. As far as I know and please correct me if I am wrong, there is no current to date documentary on Valentino Rossi is there? If there is anyone deserving it is him. There are other past champs that deserve it more so than Jorge. It is clearly the spanish trying to make him the face of the sport.

You make it sound like there is only room for one GP racing documentry a year. AND the curent world champ isn't deserving of it?!?!

It would be great to see a documentry on every GP champ. I don't see why more information would ever be a problem.

And what does Jorge having a documentary have to to do with Vale? I don't see a connection.

Hagiography. It's practically a Spanish invention, only here they call it the sporting press. It gets me so mad sometimes I wind up unfairly hating riders I've never even met.

Case in point: Lorenzo already had a big fat biography out in March 2008. Who wrote it? Ernest Riveras, the guy that presents the MotoGP coverage here in Spain. He calls the races alongside Alex Crivillé and they have the inimitable Dennis Noyes along for special comments when he can get to the race. And the two Spaniards just sit there talking about the Spanish riders for the entire race. At least year they were up the front!

But to get back to my moaning, Jorge effing Lorenzo... knobhead.

But when he puts that helmet on, and I can't see his smarmy little face, he's just sooooo watchable. Who could bear a grudge?

Anyways, I blame the media.

Isn't there the book - What if I'd never tried it?

He had to do something in the middle of his career otherwise he would never have been able to remember everything over the entire 15+ years by the time he finishes.

it's a good read, most interesting part is the cloak and dagger games they played with yamaha during his last year with honda haha

It was meant to be a tongue in cheek remark. You know, because the term hating is used often when people voice criticism on Rossi.

Seriously though, what's interesting to me about this, is that Lorenzo really seems to be all about fighting Rossi in Rossi's own game. And that game extends beyond the racetrack. I believe some of the people behind Lorenzo have realised very early on that in order to get into a position that allows him to fight Rossi, he needs to emulate, maybe even outdo Rossi in terms of marketing potential. Hence the elaborate celebrations back even in his 250 days, hiring PR professionals to help (I believe, but am not certain that he also had a psychologist help him for some time) and his overall effort to outdo Rossi as far as hyperinflated ego is concerned.

Is this a bad thing? It worked seems to have worked for him. He got on the factory team, he's got a WC, he even arguably forced Rossi out. And although you could argue this has made him a phoney person, I think all things considering (and by this I hint at the way he grew up and things with his father went), he does now come across as a reasonably balanced young man, all things considering. I am most in awe of his ability to take losses. But I'd switch of the tv before I'd have to suffer through another one of this bloody celebrations.

You can contrast Lorenzo nicely with Stoner. Both went head to head with Rossi, but Stoner only did it on the race track. That guy actually was content at one time to settle for less salary. believing that Ducati would use the extra money to develop their bike (any behavioral economist could have told him that this would backfire). And he obviously despises circus antics. Lorenzo though, he engaged Rossi in Rossi's game. It's all about manouvering yourself into the right position I believe. Money is secondary.

Anyway, I'm rambling, nevermind me. But maybe now some of the Rossi fans may now better comprehend how annoying the custard colored ....... show can be (expression borrowed form another user on this board)....

Translated into English by none other than the BBC's pitlane reporter Matt Roberts.

Just on a sidenote,

I attended the last 2 MotoGP FIM awards in Valencia (2009, 2010),

and Lorenzo was the only rider to stay and mingle with the crowd after the awards.

All others just got in the ceremony, got their hardware and left.

So he's tight fisted & can't turn down free booze & food. In the U.K we would call him a pikey.

so the logic is that before any rider gets his movie there needs to be a new one made about rossi because its unfair to show j-lo in 2010 when the last rossi movie is older than that?

did anyone even imply that besides that guy you quoted? i'm just saying he said up to date since you pointed out trails of glory, which is about 7 years old
