On the edge in California
We will see whether Marc Marquez has just had the most fortuitous beginning of the season. Since the shoulder he injured last year was by all accounts still giving him trouble before the beginning of the season, will this long layoff prove to be a stroke of luck for him?
Hmmmm...

Over .2 seconds in hand at the first outing. Impressive, even by MM’s standards. I know it’s just practice.....

this was a test, not a free practice, so its hard to decipher what the teams were actually doing, and to what degree they were dialing the bikes in... not surprised to see the Yamahas do well here as they traditionally do, Marc is always a threat at any track... one interesting take, Zarco in 7th... granted it was a GP19 that they had at least a year of data on.

Watched the qualy. Cool to see Fabio on it. Felt bad for Rins but you can't win anything here. Marquez looks like he is being conservative. I wonder how good that shoulder is? Mav looks confident. Ducatis all look lost.

It’s hard to tell whether Marquez doesn’t have the 1 lap pace to match Fabio during pole or he is taking the more mature approach of pushing but knowing that an off could end a championship run this season. Perhaps Fabios form during qualy has made Marc reevaluate how important poles & lap records are in a risk vs reward scenario.

Fabio might be just that good on a 1 lap pace. I think the Yamaha might be the bike to beat this year, it’s troubles were massively exaggerated last year because of Rossi and Mavericks inconsistency but a Yamaha rider fought for a win or podium just as often as a Honda and a Ducati.

Been watching since the mid 80s.
No fkn way has anybody else been able to repetitively pull that .... off [emoji44][emoji44][emoji41]

Rossi let him through or is the front tyre that ......?
Fabio’s to lose now.

Marquez won’t win but if he picks up a podium or a top 5 how much does that .... with the other guys psych. He should’ve been out, he certainly shouldn’t be pushing for a podium which he looks to be on for atm.

Whether Marquez finishes the race or not this has to be ....... demoralising for the entire grid.

MM is learning a lesson today and the rest of field will not be phased by him having taken himself out

The rest of the field is learning a lesson that unless MM has seriously injured himself they are all fighting for first loser in the championship.

Yep he pushed too damn hard.
The rest of the field knows they could not have done that though.
Save or carve through the field.
