Is Lorenzo a worthy champion?

cuckoo bird

Lorenzo is not worthy for being a champion not only in my eyes, but the eyes of majority of the MotoGP fans. Its not a coincidence that Yamaha sales are doing badly when Lorenzo is their number one rider and their champion. Consumers are disgusted by how Lorenzo lucked his way into the championship, that is way they chose not to buy Yamaha bikes. That is the reason Yamaha decided to call Rossi back even though he stands a near zero chance to win the title and beat Lorenzo, they need sales of their bikes.

2012 first half - Dani's Honda has setup problems limiting his speed. Lorenzo has a perfectly sorted M1. So Lorenzo winning some races is not a fair competition, its like a boxing match with his rival having one hand tied. Lorenzo's wins are not worthy because of unfair competition.

2012 last 8 races - Dani managed to sort the setup issues. Lorenzo still has the perfect bike. Both bikes are equal.

Dani - 6 wins. All the wins are worthy because he fight against JLo with equal bike performance.

JLo - 1 win ( gifted to him due to Pedrosa being T-Boned). This single win is not worthy because it was gifted to him

Thats the difference between beginning of 2012 and end of 2012.

We are the majority, Sucka

Rossi is not to be counted into the equation, his championships are all down to luck, most of them as he does not have competition in most of them.

your .... just gets better and better. you have single handedly bagged out 3 of the most successfull riders of the modern gen and one from the not so distant past.

so tell us, you ....... genius, which world champs from the past 25 years are talented and worthy in your narrow ... eyes? or dont you have the knowledge that you profess to have, to be able to discuss wc's from more than 3-4 seasons ago?

aaaannnddd go....

I was kinda hoping he'd take on Hayden. Time will tell.

Eventually, we'll get to KRjr and Criville.

And Cockoo will have pages and pages of response to print out and keep himself warm with through the cold winter nights.

Kevin Shwantz and Wayne Rainey are the last of the real warriors. Michael Doohan has guts to ride through pain, but all his 5 championships are hollow as he did not have real competition. Doohan won nothing when Kevin and Wayne Rainey are healthy. He started winning only after Rainey got paralyzed and Kevin lost motivation and retired.

Kevin lost motivation and retired.

You mean after Kevin was getting flogged by his team-mate, evinced that he was really sympathetic to the rider he actually hated his entire career, couldn't get on the podium, pretended his injuries were holding him back, so gave up a factory seat and then held a press conference at which he actually blubbed?

Kevin lost motivation is true.

Daryl Beattie was beating Kevin in 1995, correct, but it was not level playing field.

A true Aussie wouldn't be too proud to beat a champion whose head is not right and not in it anymore.

Naahh.

Kryin' Kevin, the Texan Tissue-abuser sooked off after getting flogged by the Australian World Champion and his compatriot. Worse was that the Beattie was his team-mate. Lost his #1 sticker to an antipodean Hop-a-Long the year before and couldn't hack being #2 Seppo rider after JohnnyK beat him on a effin' Cagiva, of all things. Shouldn't have even turned up in '95 if his legacy was going to be an embarassing teary press conference. This is the injury-whinger who got stuck into Lawson at his retirement dinner.

How many titles did Michael Doohan win when Kevin Schwantz and Wayne Rainey is healthy.. ZERO.

This makes Doohan's 5 titles very hollow indeed.

Isn't it very lame of Doohan to continue winning like he deserves it when one of his key rivals was paralyzed while the other rival had lost motivation?

When did you start watching the sport?

You may want to check a few things in the post highlighted above using google or wikipedia etc before you spout such crap and I will drop a hint. Check Doohans results fully.

Isn't it a fact that Doohan won nothing while Rainey is still racing and Schwantz is still healthy? Zero titles for Doohan.

Titles yes, but races no and it is you who says 'won nothing while Rainey and Schwantz is still healthy' (and correct me, but titles does not make one worthy according to your posts) and it was not that component that you need to check.

Go on, check back, google.

Concentrate on the two years prior to Doohan's first title

Google is your friend

And by the way, I am well aware that you are a troll and that is why I am being a little obtuse in my replies as much like Michael and others we do enjoy playing games sometimes when it comes to our chosen sport.

So go on, google.

Yes, by cuckoo's criteria mick very definitely won the1992 title. Along with you I am sure, I don't agree with this of course, to finish first you first must finish, and to quote jack brabham, also cited in recent threads, motor racing is the art of winning at the slowest possible speed, possibly also apposite for jorge lorenzo vs dani pedrosa in the 2012 season.

Cuckoo has dropped the sport into a bigger hole than the Lance Armstrong drug scandal, there has never been a worthy champion. They all sucked.

I feel kinda dirty right now. I mean, my feelings towards Doohan were in my mind unique and special because he was unique and special, you know, the real goat.

So the question I have to ask of Cuckoo.

Who is a worthy champion?

leave Cukoo alone and he will start underestimating each MotoGp champion in history till he gets to someone like Augostini. He might come up with something like this:"the first 5 titles of Augostni were in a period of time where all the riders were racing with horses and he was the only one riding a bike." :D he is amazing :D

All Dani needs is equal luck to Lorenzo, then he would be champion.

Dani does not need to be extra lucky or whatever, or waiting for bad luck to strike Lorenzo.

As long as he gets equal luck, Pedrosa will be champion with Lorenzo finishing second behind him in most of the races.

With equal luck, talent and speed becomes the main factor of who wins the title.

As everybody has justified, the Honda found speed mid-season, Dani finally found the settings that made him win halfway through the season, Jorge and Casey has their bikes winning straight away. Had Casey not been injured, would Dani have secured as many wins as he did? I really do doubt it

So could I deduce from your comments that you think Dani is still capable of winning the premier class? with Rossi back at Yamaha and Marquez(shudder to think) there's two reasons why I don't think he ever will be champion

By your own reasoning, Schwantz was an undeserving champion, because his only title came when Rainey was paralyzed. He never beat him in a straight fight. And Rainey was an undeserving champion because he only won his titles after Lawson had left and was riding on the totally uncompetitive Cagiva.

And so it goes, round and round. There has never been a worthy champion. They all got lucky. Agostini's titles? All because he was on the best bike. Hailwood's titles? He only had the very lucky Agostini for competition.

As I said at the outset, the only worthy champion in the history of the sport was Carlo Ubbiali.
