Krop has a good interview with Stoner on his site.

I find his comments about set up and rider styles is very interesting. It also appears that much to the disappointment of a few he has very good feel for bike set up and his rider weakness and does not need to look at data to understand it.

It also appears that when he has problems at certain points of the track he tries to fix it with riding style as much as bike set up.

Really interesting read. Clearly knows what he's talking about...i guess the changing style to ride certain parts of the track better comes from having to deal with the fickle/unforgiving/hard to set up nature of the Ducati. Explains how he was so quick on it...like many have said previously he rode around the problems.

I wish there were more in depth technical interviews like that...

Good interview - straight no BS as he really is

Whilst riding bikes is a passion racing them is very technical and it would seem that CS has hid head around what works and what doesn't. His comments about the changing perception of racing put against the backdrop of increased professionalism in the sport is also revealing.

I agree that the new crop (Lorenzo Stoner et al) had Valentino as the benchmark and have pushed riding to new limits.

I read an article on Mike the bike (Hailwood) in the current AMCN (oz) where it is joked about that he had all nighters before a couple of races and got on the bike half cut.

It's a vastly different world now...

hehe the different world alright, like your avatar back in the original Tracks days - he's a rude bully in this wide beautiful world

Isn't it funny when comparing what CS mentions how he does this or that without looking at telemetry etc unless he really needs to my thought to this leads to F1
<
or better still imagine someone like Mike the Bike in the modern era

Captain Goodvibes was my High School hero (and still is, though not in the same way).

Oh crap get off bringing up the good 'ol days - I'm feeling old ? nah just great memories of probably some of the best times to live in Oz, JJ was the original and best station ever to get on air ,nothing has come near it since.
