Don't have to my dad live in San Antonio....I know the weather sucks down there...and not just this week.

The Amount of rain should not be an issue, but I do agree the Wind 50mph is an issue...

Well it is a long drag to the finish line but they do start out slow. I hope it is dry and close like everyone else...well except West I guess.

I still there is shadow boxing going on, from rossi at least. On the live timing the top speeds were faster for the other 3 ducatis than stoner, and much faster than valentino.

ITS WET IN INDAY!!! Well thats what the webcam looks like and that is what the motogp.com is saying on live timing and I think re bull rookies is suppose to be going now.

I don't see how they are going to run this race. Ike is about 60 miles out and closing quickly. It will be on top of Indy before the race is scheduled to start.

There's no way they're going to be able to run this one, imo.

I just got a text from my friend on the ground. He said it is the blackest sky he has ever seen

Pleeeeeease don't say things like that. Makes some here, one in particular to yell out <strike>@@@@@</strike>.
You can't be serious, with a track with bad draining heavy rain will stop any race.

Sorry Babbling Fish... GSFan may have got it wrong implying drafting will be the sole determining factor... BUT - if the final lap comes down to a front wheel to back wheel dual, then in the dash to the line then it will play an important role.

The start/finish line is more than 1/2 km down the straight. Factors involved to pass from behind from corner 16 are: corner entry speed, choice of apex, grip (asphalt & tyre), gearing, torque, horsepower and aerodynamics.

Without getting into math, after about 1/4 km drag becomes a significant part of the equation - at the speeds a motogp bike is traveling by the time it reaches the S/F line at indy the coefficient of drag is the most limiting factor for bikes of more or less equal horsepower.

all those big words and scientific equations on an "if" and you call him babbling

ooh the irony of it all

Sorry, just back & catching up...

Babbling carp is right - nothing wrong with setting up wet. You can usually get gearing and suspension set up close and track time on a new circuit at (even) wet speed is invaluable.

Migs Angel, are you nuts? Livin' in monsoon season in Thailand now. Lived through tail end of dozens of hurricanes for 40ish years. If that sucker hits, there'll be no one racing. Racing ain't like ridin' dude.

Rog... y'know the "if" was fer them there bike's positions. I's thinkin' Westy's got it in da bag, eh?
