There should be a go fund me page to help fund the eradication of Alberto Puge. The man is a moron and should be removed from every form of motorcycle racing worldwide. He is solely responsible for Dani Pedrosa for not winning a world championship and he is solely responsible for Honda being the worst team and bike in MotoGP.

Please, please Honda!! Get rid of that total ..... and get someone that knows what he/she is doing. He wasn’t even a decent racer when he rode!!

Get it done Honda

Hmmm Dani was never even the best rider on the team any season he was there. I'm not sure what year Puig cost him the championship. He did cost him a win in Germany once. Could you elaborate on that. I do agree that Honda should fire Puig though. Consider that my two cents for the go fund me.

Dani was plagued with injuries throughout his career but was always ready to get back on the bike as soon as he could and Puig always stopped him from gaining those points he needed. 2012 was his closet year he came to winning but Puig still stopped all the press and brolly girls from apparently distracting him. Puig needs to go, the hobbling little gimp is a vile human.

The whole world was cheering on Dani to win that title. I could not believe in what happened.

He was better than Dovi. He was also effectively better than Stoner in 2012 since Stoner partly threw away that season due to a perhaps not entirely unreasonable view that Dorna were capriciously changing things such as bike weights and tyres to thwart him, then getting injured.

I blame Puig for many things, including a significant contribution to Honda’s current plight and in particular for his decision to fire Dani entirely from Honda. Not only were his successors worse riders than even an aging Dani, it has emerged that Dani is a pretty good test rider and perhaps a significant contributor to the Honda bike being good back when it was good.

However Dani basically put himself out of the title race in 2012 by crashing out of the Australian GP. A premier Rossi loving Stoner hater at the time blamed Stoner for this, essentially for being faster than Dani and trying to win the race, rather than riding shotgun, drawing rather a long bow imo, but team instructions to Stoner are pretty much the only way Puig could have influenced the race with Dani eventually crashing out not due to any agency of Puig’s that I can see.

By the sounds of it Honda has employed Marini based on his ability to give feedback on the bike, ie help develop it. However it seems that Honda is up to its old trick of changing everything at the same time making it a nightmare to determine what has worked and what hasn't

Where have you heard this? He was on the 4th team on the ducati totem pole. He was on a bike with no new parts. He has had nothing to do with development. Honda signed him because they had zero options. So they went with the guy with a famous brother.

Yep, I don't see what the attraction to Marini was over say, Diggia. Diggia was willing to take a 1 yr contract that Honda wanted to offer and was a race winner.

If anything this seals their fate of not resigning Marc. Do you think Marc wants to be teammates with satans brother?

I personally don't see Marc rejoining Honda during his racing career. Maybe he will retire and become a Honda ambassador but that's it imo.

Knowing Honda they will probably repo his championship bikes.

While Digi had some great results near the end of the season, Marini was more consistent over the long haul? As for bike development, I may be way off but I thought I read something.........maybe on this site.......that Marini has some engineering in his blood.......................or maybe he's stayed at some Holiday Inns? (that reference may just be an American thing).

I believe he has too. That said.

1. MotoGP riders are not expected to be engineers. In days of old, it was advantageous for riders and drivers to have engineering knowledge to suggest changes to the vehicle. Now it's a completely different game. The riders are expected to just explain what the bike is doing, and the data engineers use that and the data combined to do development.
2. As Mdub said, Marini has no development experience in motoGP or bike racing at all for that matter. Moto2 is a spec class and he has had a customer bike in GP except for 2022 when he had a GP22, but I'm not sure if he had any development input on it given he finished behind Bezz in the championship.

Last thing an engineer wants is someone with some engineering experience telling them how to do their job. I have some architectural experience, I played with legos as a kid.

You don't need to be testing new parts to be able to give good feedback to engineers.
I've also read and heard pundits/commentators talk about Marini being good at relaying feedback to engineers.
The best riders are normally not very good at this because of their ability to ride "around" issues

I know it is currently fashionable to state that engineers engineer and riders ride. That is what got Honda into the hole.

I am not an engineer and was but a dilettante club level racer for a couple of years. However, I believe that a new chapter will be written some day by some rider providing insightful feedback and some team willing to listen to it that brings a new breakthrough to this sport. IF it may be allowed to happen by the powers that be.

If, on the other hand, the engineers and programmers continue the “progress” and continue to “refine” the incremental “improvements” to facilitate the negation of more or most traditional rider skills, why not have robots piloting the bikes and just encourage the fans to legally bet on the outcomes? This could create a new “sport.” And a new class of millionaires! Yay.

I mean its true engineers have to engineer and riders ride. But they need to listen to the riders. However it seems that the honda went backwards by listening to Pol last year and going the direction he wanted. Honda has let engineers engineer in the past when they built the micro-bike for Dani the year after Nicky won the championship. That bike was a total pile of miniature .... but still nothing compared to the trashcan they have now. Regardless on if they listen to the riders or not. Engineers have to put together a bike that works. It doesn't matter if the riders give them good feedback or not, they will have to make it work.
