Ducati currently puts three 2018 bikes on the grid (third one going to Petrucci), HRC puts 4 bikes (Cal and Nakagami both on 2018 bikes).

The way I see this unfold is MarcVDS getting one 2018 and one 2019 bike next year (With the 2019 bike going to Zarco if they manage to sign him, Luthi is on a 1 year contract IIRC). And then perhaps in 2021/22, VR46 gets two further bikes (Current or year old, we will have to see).

Another reason why Yamaha might push to get MarcVDS signed is that it will get Morbidelli away from HRC and into the Yamaha-Rossi constellation.

I thought Honda only had 3 full factory bikes with Nakagimi on the same deal (customer bike) as MarcVDS?

I'll try to dig it up again, but I am pretty sure I read a report somewhere that Nakagami gets a 2018 bike (And an HRC contract).

Even when LCR and MarcVDS had only customer bikes, MarcVDS got the red headed stepchild treatment. They always got the updates last, if at all. Which is something Miller was quite vocal about several times.

ok, Bartholemy is french speaking and looks like I was not far from the truth looking at this french article Marc VDS et Yamaha unis pour 3 ans en MotoGP à partir de 2019 ? - Paddock GP

This website is quite objective so i trust them to have enough relationship with Bartholemy to provide this article

basically as someone just said, VDS got plenty of meetings in Qatar.

they got all offers now.

considering suzuki, Honda and Yamaha.

Yamaha seems very keen because of Morbidelli (plus Mir and Alex Marquez) all signed with VDS.

Please note that the deal would be for 3 years, which correspond to the end of career of Rossi and beginning of VR46 motogp.

Also if some of you consider why VDS would sign up for 3 years "only" reason is pretty simple : the Beer lord behind that finance the team (just mentioned above, sorry got issues with names), has an agreement to finance the team until...2021 ! all falls into play, Bartholemy pushing for a good deal with Yamaha to keep his beer lord financial backing, Yamaha pushing to keep Zarco and get Morbidelli, Mir and Alex Marquez !!!! Pretty interesting if you ask me !

i have big hopes on Mir.

if that happen it would mean the end of Luthi though.

I knew Cal got the HRC contract and full factory bike but seem sure that Nakagimi got a HRC contract (his contract replacing Miller's HRC direct deal) with factory support and customer bike (which is still more support than MarcVDS ever got as Jack used to say).

Personally I do hope that MarcVDS goes elsewhere if he is to get good support as I suspect that with the money he has been prepared to put in and with good factory support they have the making of a very, very strong support team and structure.

May be wrong but 2021 is also the end of the current 5 year deals that the teams signed (although I may be out by a year) which are the same deals that restrict the number of grid places and what not.

The beer lord would be Marc van der Straaten I suspect

José María Rivera, boss of Estrella Galicia.

José María Rivera, boss of Estrella Galicia.

VanDerStraaten however has stakes in the brewing industry as well and is said by WealthX to be worth 1.7 billion

'Van der Straten's wealth originates from his stake in Anheuser-Busch InBev, a multinational brewing company that produces, manufactures and distributes more than 200 beer brands.'

Sure makes for good celebrations as Jack found out

Did I miss Hodgeson and/or Edwards doing a pre-race lap, or have they stopped doing that?

David Emmett got face time on the BT broadcast as well as a mention re Motomatters and his gig on Dutch TV...

I noticed that as well :)

What do we think about Mav?
He's telling us that they've found the secret to making the bike work for him (essentially making it stiffer), but he's been telling us the same thing after pretty much every day of pre-season testing only to look lost again when he gets back on the bike...

Again, no problem with your takes on actual bike racing and while I disagree with your opinion about Zarco you are very obviously entitled to said opinion.

You are as mordant a crititic of other posters as anyone on here, is it somehow different when you are the one doing the critiquing?.

You are correct there are not many MotoGP forums, but most which do exist are heavily Rossi centric and pro-Rossi as this forum also once was, some even fairly totally proscribing anti-Rossi sentiment . Why is a single forum with a different slant, which some of us would see as mainly being pro- other riders of quality rather than being anti-Rossi, so problematic for you?.

He's synn's alter ego.

Maverick seems to lack subtility and has a pinch of bipolarity in his comments sometimes.

He can go to "i am unbeatable" to "i am wasting my talent on this ...... bike with these ...... tires" in 24 hours and often feel after the flag that he could have been unbeatable thanks for this or thanks for that.

Concerning Petrucci and Lorenzo, looks like even in motogp you are as good as your last trade, I mean even if Lorenzo is having a tough first race i feel a bit disrespectful from Ducati to put pressure on Lorenzo, a multiple world title winner, with Petrucci who hasnt even won a race yet.

If they knew Jorge a little bit they should know that this wont leverage anything good and that he can be vindictive

But they paid Jorge to win so anything short is a failure. Especially when his teammate is contending on the same bike. Short of a miracle JLo is on his way out at the end of the year. Repsol team set. Yamaha team set. He is proper ...... for taking the money two years ago. Jorge Lorenzo 2019 world superbike runner-up has a nice ring to it.

It would seem that way wouldn't it? Too bad he feels the need to try to be a swinging .... with all moronic insults. He is reasonably well informed and would be interesting to debate if he could manage to lay off the infantile insults. He can be interesting just so long as nobody mentions Flossi. Once Vale comes into play he loses all objectivity and just flails about, like a monkey throwing .... at passersby.

In any case, good start to the season, despite the usual yearly influx of moronic Trollaban.

To be honest, although over the top and extreme, he's kind of balancing the general hubbub of the forum.

He's not reacting to every 'Wossi' post but he's picking up on several posters who can't help but post digs at GoatBoy, whether he's actually being discussed or not - At least that's how I've been reading it, I might well be mistaken.

For a few, the dislike/hatred/bitterness pretty much spills into every paragraph they write, and for someone who doesn't care enough either way, it can be a real chore to read through some of the threads here (which I still do as there are some genuine insights to be gleaned and good discussions to be had).

I get the feeling that it would be better for some people to just start a telegram group and only have folk who have similar views in it - As it stands, this is still a public MotoGP forum so occasionally people will get fed up of the status quo (which for a good while has been pretty anti Granddad Yamaha).

Just my ramblings anyway...
