Maybe Yamaha is counting on cooler temperatures today, but I agree. Medium seems more up their alley.

“Mapping 8” Message to Luthi. Somebody has a sense of humor.
Cal in the gravel again. What’s new?

This warm up is absolutely pointless. I wish they'd dump the night race and just return to a full daytime program.

I don't mind the night race but moving it to an earlier time seems to be a huge mistake.

Better yet though, .... Qatar off. All sports should be currently boycotting Qatar IMO.

Agreed, but money talks.

I would be very happy if racing was limited to just the classic circuits, but that is unlikely to happen.

It's embarrassing the way sports organisations are turning a blind eye to what goes on in Qatar when they flash their money. What FIFA have allowed to happen is beyond a joke.

It might work, since it's the opening race now it's not as hot as it once was when it was later in the schedule. Doesn't alter the fact that they want to showcase their lighting though.

Agree entirely. Actually, although very different, I've just turned down a very generous offer in the UAE which I was interviewed for in August ... largely because I've had ample time to think about it and I'm pleased to say that I've never done anything in my life purely for the money, which this almost would have been, (bar the time I spent working as a sixteen year old rent boy on Tilbury Docks of course).

Very excited about this race nonetheless. So much so, I'm forgoing my ticket for the Quarter Final of the Cup against Chelsea later this afternoon.

Marquez topped the warm up. Whether it actually means anything or not, who ....... knows.

Qatar will never compromise on the night race.
They pay all that money to be the first race on the calendar and to have the premier class race under the lights.

I am looking forward to the Moto2 race as well. The grid is stacked with talent and things are looking very close.

I liked Simon Crafar when he raced but holy hell, listening to him is BRUTAL. Half the time he seems lost, speaks at 50% speed and can’t remember anyone’s name to save his life.

Dylan Grey is dearly missed.

Everyone at the front looks very comfortable right now. Its hard to tell who has more pace and who doesn't.

Vinales has to be kicking himself. He had a great pace but lost too much time at the start.

Great ride from Dovi.

Marquez will be happy as can be, Qatar isn't a great circuit for him or Honda but he still pushed Dovi right to the end.

Great race by Dovi, red bull ring last corner with Marc again :)

Rossi just wasting a factory seat...

Wow, a carbon copy of Austria 2017. Amazing race! Kudos to Dovi and MM.
Heartbreak for Zarco after leading for so long.
Smart ride by Rossi, made the most of what he had.
Cal stayed right side up and finished well.
Superhuman effort from Vinales to make up as many places as he did. But he definitely paid the price for a poor qualifying session.
Forgettable race for J.Lo, looks like it was a mechanical failure too.
Rins looked very steong before his crash, Suzuki are definitely coming.

Qatar 2018 delivered big time.
