So help me understand this because I'm still in disbelief, so is there NOT a "MotoGP16"?

Am I understanding this correctly, the series that was previously called "MotoGP15" has now become "Valentino Rossi" the game?

So to be clear, this is the mainstream game I play on Xbox, Play Station, etc.? This is not some offshoot game? This is the official MotoGP videogame?

Sorry, I just feel like I'm missing something.

I'm trying to understand it myself, but it sounds like this is the 2016 version of "MotoGP15". Or I'm mistaken, which I hope I am. Because if the official MotoGP game is now simply called "Valentino Rossi" then I'm just ....... floored.

Instead of having MotoGP 16 as the next installment, they decided to go with a Rossi-centric game as the "MotoGP 16" title.

....... sad.

Yes this is the next installment in the series. Jumkie and I are having a lengthy conversation about it now. Even to me this is sad. I like the addition of flat track racing, but I laugh at the fact that Rossi never was a flat track racer and the next generation will grow up thinking he was great at that too. But qwhy in the .... is drifting cars in this game? Anyone know what button calls Carmello to the pit garage?

I will say that the pga did this with Tiger Woods golf until it was known that he was a cheating whore. You didn't actually have to play as Tiger and it was a good game even if you hated the dude. Weird Tiger loses a game after it is revealed that he is a cheating whore and Rossi gets one after we find out the same. Is this ironic? I can never tell.

I'm more surprised it took them this long to make a Rossi-centric game.

Here's an hour's worth of gameplay.

They do have old bikes in the game which is cool...but it's still atrocious looking graphically.

The legend of Rossi is already beginning, the drifting and flat-track .... is a way to make him look like a real legend. "He was so good at anything with wheels on it."

Tiger didn't lose the game till the 2015 edition.

It was Tiger Woods PGA Tour 1999 thru Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2014.

You guys are great!

This just happened you ....... .....!

This news is just hitting. I suppose you're one of the morons who defends Rossi for putting a fellow competitor in the same predicament of being killed. You don't give a .... about that though, because it was Rossi, right? You're going to bring up some indignation over a game when Rossi actually could have caused a murder at the same place his buddy died? Typical insane bopper.

I'm attending the race this weekend and been at the track today. It just feels like .... now. Crash happened out of my sight and on the 'big screen' there were just some very short shots of ever more people attending an unidentifiable rider. POS track announcer just went silent so nobody knew at first who was even involved. We heard it was Salom when we left the circuit. The whole handling of the situation - helicopter landing in the corner, leaving without him, session not resumed etc. - made us fear for the worst. And still hoping we would be wrong and it would just turn out fine. Maybe a concussion or something like that, he might miss a few races, what a shame, getting injured in his home race.. This just feels bad. Very bad. R.I.P.

Ever think we didn't see anything about Salom till just now dipshit?

It's being said they transported him to the hospital for emergency surgery, which was obviously unsuccessful.

They are switching the track layout to the F1 circuit for the remainder of the weekend

MotoGP riders will use the Formula 1 layout of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for the remainder of this weekend’s Catalan Grand Prix in the wake of Moto2 rider Luis Salom's fatal crash.

The decision was taken following on from the death of Salom during Moto2 practice on Friday, which occurred after the Spaniard fell from his bike at the high-speed right-hander Turn 12.

In the wake of the incident, it is understood that MotoGP riders were unhappy about the prospect of having to use a corner where there is no gravel to slow down the bike in the event of a crash – only tarmac run-off.

As such, riders will now follow the path used by F1 since the 2007 Spanish Grand Prix, the first edition of the race to use the chicane that bypasses Turn 12.

The F1 layout also features a shortened and sharper version of Turn 10, the left-hander hairpin at the end of the back straight, which has more tarmac run-off.

This will also be used for the remainder of the MotoGP weekend, reducing the circuit length from 4.727km to 4.655km. The layout was briefly sampled by riders in a post-race test in 2014.

To afford the riders more time to practice using the revised layout, Saturday morning's free practice session has been extended to one hour, running from 0950 to 1050 local time.

MotoGP switches to Barcelona F1 layout after Salom death

Not really a fan of this move. It's a knee-jerk reaction. Going with the F1 layout for the rest of the weekend is a ....... joke. That layout is atrocious. I really hope this isn't the permanent layout for 2017 and beyond.

It looks like he basically died on impact. That corner has paved run off all the way to the barrier. Nothing slowed him down. It was just a matter of time that someone would be killed or seriously injured there because it's designed to keep an F1 car circulating rather than why impact zones are there in the first place-- to absorb energy and scrub speed. If there were gravel starting from the white line Salom lives.

F1 has ruined a shitload of circuits with their requirement of tarmac runoff areas.

This doesn't even happen today if that was all gravel, but because the FIA demands tarmac runoff at many circuits to achieve grade 1 status, this is the end result. Oh and also because tarmac allows the F1 drivers who run off the circuit through their own mistakes to rejoin the track with no punishment such as being beached in the gravel.

They need to go back to gravel runoff areas...the riders should be demanding it.

What frustrates me is that it wasn't done before. It reminds me of the crane used to recover a car during a hot wet F1 race which killed that kid. When I look at the races and circuits sometimes it occurs to me off handed that intuitively something doesn't look right in some places. This turn 12 was obvious. It's like turn 3 at Laguna, can you imagine if they replaced the gravel with pavement? How did it go unaddressed so long? Anyway, as they say, someone has to get killed before anything is ever done if they actually do anything. That Jamaican player which kicked another guy in the back was banned over 9 months. Meanwhile...., I'll be curious to see who is shedding crocodile tears over "safety" on this one.

This incident reminded me of Hopkins cheating death at Assen. He hit a sponsorship sign which didn’t help.

Mdub made a great point to me, which I'll let him elaborate, he reasons that if Stoner was still riding, a corner like this would have been brought up as a major concern because Casey was very safety conscious. I totally agree with Mdub's rationale, as it speaks to Stoner's absence.

Thank you for putting that in such a way that I won't get banned.

So I am hearing they may use a chicane at corner 12 which f1 already uses because the corner was to fast or whatever. So why did they need the extra run off?

they will use the F1 chicane in turn 12:
