True, but it still applies. Danny webbs a great rider on a crap bike, same with Folger, Aoyama etc. Aleix Espargaro proved it at assen - .... bike for ages, got a decent ride and an excellent result.

Some guys just get luckier than others...harsh reality

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (rickyduck @ Jun 29 2009, 01:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Not if he keeps up his Assen performance, which was extremely good.
He's getting gradually better at each race, come donnington I reckon he could get a top 5.
Ricky, remember that his 6th was gifted by Repsol Honda, and possibly Toni's standard last lap rectal cranial inversion.

JT and CV frustrate me so much, because I like them and they are so hugely talented. Colin achieves consistently better results than JT because he is in all honesty the better rider, and he has superior developmental skills. Stick either JT ot CV back in WSBk next season on the Yam or th 1198, ad so long as Spies has taken their place in GP, they'll smoke the pack. CV is very technically gifted on a superbike, JT is a fighter, and I'd love to see him stuff it up Fabi.

Incoming? - it's all been said really. I utterly agree with Big Al where the 250 protoges are concerned. Outgoing? - I really don't want to see Nicky go, but like CV and JT, I'd love to see him on a superbike again.

I have a dream people....I'd like to see a full world economic/financial recovery, a raft of sponsorship to sail in particular, KR's way and following a barnstorming campaign in Moto 2, the King to return to the blue ribbon championship, that already galvanised by the speed and potency of Moto2 has reinstated the 990's. Then Nicky and Spies ink a deal, to ride a leased factory Yamaha motor in a Banbury built prototype chassis and finish one and two respectively in the Championship. (I'd also like to see the eradication of global poverty and third world debt, lasting political stability and an end to world hostilities, my six lottery numbers next Saturday, and a final ban for Pinky - all of which are more likely than the picture I painted for Moto GP)

Finally, another incoming rider to the series I'd like to see is DJM, who it seems could teach Rossi a thing or two about the art of racecraft.

Maybe so, but its a 6th none the less and he was running at the front of the second pack most of the race.

Who's to say the same won't happen to spies. Edwards was a great WSBK racer yet still doesnt have a win (though Assen was close).

Well I can only comment on the ones that didn't deserve to be on the grid in first place.

Those are:

Canepa
Talmacsi
De Angelis

Then you have to take into account that right now only 3 guys IMO (Spies, Bautista, Simoncelli) have proved they deserve a seat in MotoGP, so you can't take out more than 3 guys cause the ones you will put in to substitute them might be worse. And I don't want a 12 bike grid.

out going... cv, deAngelis, canepa........ well really there are alot more i'd like to see go but there are only 3 riders i think should come into the big class next season & as stated by teo already i don't want a 12 bike grid. 3 for 3

wouldnt vote elias out! think hes a better rider than he looks right now!

Incoming:
Simoncelli - at this point the only one who has confirmed, he most likely will also be getting a "factory ride" on a satellite team. Therefore finding a way around the no rookies on factory teams rule.

Bautista - I think the rumors are still that Aspar will finally get his team next year and Bautista will be his man. What bike mfg, who knows? Like all top rookies I'm sure he sees a factory bike in his future, but not sure there will be one.

Spies - The man is making Yamaha look really good in WSBK, but does he want to come to MotoGP. Sure Suzuki could offer him that ride they snubbed him on, but would he even bother taking it. Everyone knows that Suzuki have been playing catch up for years now. I just don't see him taking a Suzuki offer. I'd say his odds of coming to GP are high if he wins WSBK this year and is offered some sort of factory-ish support on a Yamaha. If Haga wins WSBK, Spies stays (ie - Yamaha make a very nice bonus to stay) so he can win them a championship.

The Maybes:

Edwards - really this is up to him, as he is the #1 non factory guy out there, hell he is even beating factory riders (Hayden, Cappers, Vermi) often. His ride, if he continues his performance, is going to be up to him to keep or not.

Toseland - The question is, can Herve find anyone better then JT? Also the Brit rider thing may be a factor. But honestly he has been improving and showing he can just about match Edwards now. Good chance he will stay.

Vermi & Cappers - Both above average riders, but both are also on a very average team that seems to always be a few steps behind the rest in development. Can you blame the riders? Whatever the case Suzuki sure doesn't seem to have a penchant for bringing on any new talent. I wouldn't be the least surprised if Chris and Loris came back for another year.

de Puniet - Finally he is having a good non-crash year. If he keeps doing what he has been doing (top 10 and no crashing) he will stay. Really I want to see him on a Ducati though, I seriously think he may be fast on one.

de Angelis - I liked him in 250's he was always the guy behind Lorenzo and Dovi, but he has yet to prove he has their ability. Maybe time for him to go try out Moto2?

Elias - Hot and cold as always, he will probably turn it up a notch here soon as teams are starting to look at who they are going to stick with. Either de Angelis or Elias is gone from the team. We already know for some certainty that Simoncelli will take over Tony's factory Honda, but will Elias stay?

Hayden - finally getting on better with the Ducati, but can he keep improving over the rest of the year? Will they let him go after one year? Last year Marco wanted out after only a few races, Nicky hasn't given any indication of such a thing, instead he has real drive to work with what they got and improve. How custom though will Ducati get with the development for Hayden?

Kallio - No real reason to let him go, if he gets on well and keeps beating Hayden, perhaps he will be their 2nd man next year? Somehow I think he will stay with Pramac and just pick up a new teammate.

Out:
Canepa - He shined as a Superstock 1000 guy, but many have before, and was a great test rider for Ducati, but seriously he had no business being in GP, imho. Kallio has shown the Pramac is capable of a few top 10's and Canepa hasn't even been close.

Gibernau - Granted his ride was a special setup deal, but who knows, maybe the Nieto boys can attract someone else to that team, that is if they can even keep the thing funded for next year. Gibbers unfortunately left right before things changed drastically, 800cc that is. Plus his injuries, the man is struggling. Time to hang it up. If he really has true passion for "racing" he could give a go in WSBK, but I doubt he would.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (PASSI @ Jun 29 2009, 02:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>wouldnt vote elias out! think hes a better rider than he looks right now!

With all the rumours flying around I would have thought that he would realize it is contract time. Come contract time and he will get a couple of top 5 finishes but I think that his time might be nearing an end.

In - Spies

Out -

Also "in" would be better support for the satellite teams.

Kallio has shown the Pramac is capable of a few top 10's and Canepa hasn't even been close. To be pedantic, Kallio has 3 top-10s to Canepa's 1 (at Mugello), so Canepa's been more than "close" to the top 10 at least once. Whether he has/had business being in GP depends on why he has his ride and what alternatives Ducati had. I'm not sure he's quite a traditional sat rider - his route to the ride certainly wasn't traditional.

Seriously though

Toselands seat to go to Spies
Vermuelen's seat to go to Bautista
Elias's seat to go to Simoncelli
De Angelis's seat to go to Melandri

Probably be more but not sure.
