Well would everyone on here blow Lorenzo's trumpet if 125/250 was run as it's own series, not on the same tracks as GP?

If you answer Yes, give points why,

If you answer No, which I would, is because everyone see's 250's alongside GP and thinks 'OMG he rides teh tracks and is fast in his series! He must be teh uber fast in GP!!111'.

Sorry, my topic was not supposed to be a whinge as much as a teaste, which you have responded too. I understand what you mean, but don't worry i am just entertained by Rossi's antics this year because it is new and exciting to see anything other than total security from his mind. I don't think he could ever dream of out whinging Stoner whos just one of those people, whereas Rossi is just a champion under stress.

I can't wait for Brno

I'd also like to add that i too would consider a 250 title more prestigious than a world superbike title, and a 125 title worth more than WSS. They are all world championships and that is not to be forgotten, but grand prix racing is the big time.

So,I'm not having a go at Tom in particular, but all the guys here that:
1. Rate riders for their press relations
2. take any oportunity to have a shot at rossi and other selected riders that might have an opinion.
3. Have no better counter arguments than the usuall "God", "Mindless Cheerleaders"and so forth.

but it is not so this question is totally pointless.
it is run on the same tracks and it is very close racing with far more riders competing so it could be argued that its a bigger achievement to win the championship than most other series.

1. I wouldn't rate a rider based on their press relations, but it is an insight into their mind.

2. Although i started this topic as a way of poking fun at Vale, i'm not really trying to put him down because those who know me will know i respect the man (except for the Elias thing which we wont get into again).

3. This one goes both ways, just filter out the crap from both sides of the fence and we can have a real discussion. Or we can call names and put down each others favorite riders, Rossi's .... anyway and you're just too blind to see it

my point is someone rubbishing peoples achievements when they have never achieved anything even close, now thats childish and not a valid oppinion

I think you mis understand Phlegs attitude. We often reffer to riders in the context of grand prix riding, so Rossi is credited as a 7 times world champion, however a rider like JT (for example) will be credited with zero world championships. If i am not mistaken Phleg feels that is an unfair representation of their achievements because Rossi is being given two ticks near enough equal to those of JT's that have not been mentioned.

Becuase it happens to be good business, they don't ride for us, they ride for themselves, and for some reason camera's happen to follow them around, which we should be thankful for.

I would be very careful to make to much fuzz about what is being reported, especially in the heat of the moment. Unfortunatly the media want sensations, not boring well funded opinions.

That was my point as well, it's okay to make some fun at each other, but when you filter the crap there's nothing left and that gets tiresome.

1. I do agree, the press can fool us, as can the riders themselfes, so we cannot read too much into these quotes. But i'm still gonna try because i'm bored.

2. That incident does not affect how i rate Rossi as a rider, just my respect for him took a knocking (just like it did at Catalunya 01)

I understand how it came out, I just find it disgusting on this forum that some people don't count WSB and WSS as 'proper' titles, but if anyone says the same about 125/250, it's a whole different story.

If any of the riders are racing primarily for the approval of the public i definitely hold very little respect for them.
