I hope he does get a ride... but my guess is that he retires...

Poor dear, well, all the best to him!

Haven't Kwaka already said no to Gibernau's pay demands? I can't see him cutting his price. Unless Biaggi style he gets a sponsor to foot the rest of his wage.

I say retirement.

retire i recon, probably get a mamola job for some spanish tv company i expect. hope im wrong and he stays, i always thought i hated him,but i felt sick when i sore that crash at cataluna, then i realised i did like him a bit

Thing is, he's a class rider. Granted he's had one unlucky season, but in 04 he was Rossi's biggest rival and he had some great results..............till Rossi put his mind trick on him! It would be a shame to see him go.

I didnt realise Kawa said no already.

If I was him, I'd do a Checca, ride for free - no pressure...........then land a top rider at the end of the season

Or, get funky with Telephonica (Spanish), get on the Ilmor - all kitted out with an unber cool paint job and get that Ilmor bike developed.

He is a great rider Ben, but I've said it before, that shoulder would raise a few questions as to how fit Gibernau is to contest a full season. If he gets a knock on it again, he's much more likely to be out of action for a while than any other rider so signing him is a big gamble. Pity, he would have a few more great years left only for the injury.

Personally it would be great to see him help devlop the Ilmor, but Im guessing he will call it a day, especially with that delicate shoulder.

if you were running a moto gp team - which i assume you aren't ?

Would you employ him ?

Cos I wouldn't

he's talented enough but, for me, he's lost his mojo - or rather it was taken off him

it just goes to show - when Rossi tells you you aren't going to win another race - you're not going to win another race.

i rekon you've just bought yourself a really expensive three legged horse then.

Who in motogp can say this from the last 5/6 years? Rossi, Loris...........not many!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>During 2003 and 2004 Gibernau had built a reputation for superb speed and consistency, winning eight GPs, taking a total of 17 podiums and scoring no less than six pole positions.

2004: 2nd - MotoGP World Championship (Honda)
2003: 2nd - MotoGP World Championship (Honda)

Granted he's not performed this year - but can we blame Gibbers for that!?

I still feel that on his day, Gibbers can be the fastest man on the track - certainly Rossi's closest rival during this period.

I know your only as good as your last race, but he's quick.

He never won a race in 05, it's silly he let Rossi get inside his head, wasn't he on a factory Honda last year too?

What was the point defecit to Rossi in the two years he came second?

Let's not forget he's been in the top class for about 10 years now so I say retirement. Shame but he's had bad luck this year. At least I got to see him ride at Le Mans.

Unfortunately it seems he is going to retire.

I'm not a great fan oh him (unless he joins Kawa), but I'm sad to see him go this way, in a season plagued by injuries and mechanical problems.

All the seats are now occupied except Ilmor and I doubt he's going there without even having tested the bike.

I would as a team owner. Agree with the mojo but no pressure on him to do well. He's been top flight racing, inside factory Honda, Ducati, knows who to talk to about technical issues... Well worth it for a year.
