I wouldn't call the M1 quiet but it's one of the quieter bikes out there because Rossi doesn't like really loud exhausts.

all exhausts are loud, cuzz they are just pipes, nothing more...

That's oversimplifying it quite a bit...an exhaust system has a definite effect on how a motorcycle performs, and they're a lot more than "just pipes." However, with a motorcycle like the M1, there's not much an exhaust system can do to silence that Liquid-cooled, in-line, 4-cylinder, 4-stroke engine. Termignoni manufactures a fine exhaust for yamaha and Ducati, but plugged onto a desmosedici or M1 they are pretty much, as Slide so eloquently put it, "just pipes.'

The sound quality isn't the best, but you get the idea. Although in my opinion nothing sounds quite as frightening as the Ducati Desmosedici:

For the record, I have not heard any of these beautiful machines in real life, so my opinions may not matter

So all of you that have heard these motorcycles in person, just count yourselves lucky!

doh, you realy should. Listening to Stoners bike in '07 during the qualifying out of one of the high speed corners at Assen was really spectacular. A screaming cat draged over the footsteps

And the Ducati sure sound frightening.
