Fiat Sponsor replacement eludes Yamaha for 2011

comparing an 800 to a 500 is absolutely absurd and insulting to the heros that mastered the stroker beasts.

This takes boning to all new levels

As Jumkie said (but in different words), trying to reason with somebody with the neuroanatomy of a mollusc becomes very tiring

What some beings represent as "reasoning" is often just a case of flexing their mussels.

Yamaha gets what they deserve

And so did Rossi at Mugello last year. hilarious!

Because all the 'V' bikes seem to have less problems squeezing out more bhps, while the IL4 seems more limited by design in that sense. Each year it becomes a bit tougher for the IL4 to keep up with the V engines and compensate with the other qualities of a bike that is shorter and more nimble.

If the Yamaha engineers manage to get the required power out of the IL4, then no problem of course.

I don't know how you have established that Yamaha are finding it tougher each year to keep up, they are a damn sight closer now than they were in 07, and things have fluctuated since. There are plenty of factors besides configuration which determine engine power, and besides that there are plenty of factors other then engine power which determine the bikes straight line performance. For example the Inline 4 is a wider engine, making the bike less efficient in terms of aerodynamics

I think Stoner's good too - Aragon and PI in 2010 being 2 great examples, but he's never done anything on a bike as raw as the 500 2-strokers.

Well Rossi could handle those 'raw' 2-strokes yet he can't handle Stoners ducati. Go figure.

Some people just don't know when to shut their bigmouth. Wading through their posts is a a real pain in the wrasse.

Rossi (and now Lorenzo) have always been complaining, each year, about the (relative) lack of power of the M1. Lorenzo was still complaining during the recent tests. Maybe you should ask them if there is a problem or not there.

The front section of the Yamaha is not wider than others, in spite of it being a IL4. They have managed to reduce the space between the cylinders to a minimum (and had to solve serious overheating problems in the process).

Your last comment about the 2-strokes and Rossi: Rossi rode the 500s when he was young, after that he has had many years with completely different bikes, of which the last seven years with the supersmooth M1. So age and habit are a factor there, but give him some more time... It's early to rush to such conclusions...

I didn't say the Yamaha inline 4 didn't tend to be less powerful. What i am challenging is your claim that the problem is getting increasingly worse. It is a claim that you almost certainly cannot back up, and one that i doubt is even true.

As for mu conclusion being drawn to early. i know it was based on very little evidence but as that is all the evidence we are going to get, there isn't much else to do. Although for your benefit perhaps i should have made a note saying that particular conclusion was based on a limited amount of evidence but it's the best we can do.

Yeah, f&k all those .......s that compare 800's to 500's. They obviously know nothing about the sport. ........

By the way, check out this lovely little piece of writing.

The ninth paragraph is especially interesting. Read it talpa, I promise you'll like it.

Yamaha is obviously going alone this year in racing. The new WSBK livery was unveiled today and its blank. Factory blue11489:2011wsbkyam.jpg]
