MotoGP Film FASTEST Set for U.S. Premiere In Las Vegas On October 14

Oct 03, 2011, ©Copyright 2011, Roadracing World Publishing, Inc.

From a press release issued by FASTEST:

MALIBU,Calif. (Oct. 3, 2011) – The critically acclaimed Moto GP documentary FASTEST is set for its United States premiere with a private and exclusive screening on Friday, October 14 at The Deuce Lounge inside the Aria resort and Casino at City Center in Las Vegas. Filmmaker Mark Neale followed the MotoGP circuit during the 2010 and 2011 seasons and searched the DORNA MotoGP archives, creating a true cinematic experience that captured the excitement, thrills and human drama as the world’s best drag their knees at nearly 200 mph.

"'FASTEST’ - the greatest feeling, the greatest risk. This is the essence of MotoGP and of the movie. The ecstasy and the terror of life at the very highest level of motorcycle racing." -Mark Neale

MotoGP is the worldwide pinnacle of motorcycle racing, and FASTEST takes you to its heart, capturing the behind-the-scenes personalities that make the sport one of the most popular on the planet. With 105 wins to his credit, Italian Valentino Rossi is chasing history, looking to become the winningest rider in the sport as he’s faced with the challenge of coming back from a career-threatening injury. However, standing in his way is a group of talented young riders, led by his teammate and rival Jorge Lorenzo, looking to take the crown from “The Doctor.”

The documentary follows some of the most successful riders in recent years, including Rossi, Lorenzo, Marco Simoncelli, Casey Stoner, Ben Spies, Alvaro Bautista, Randy De Puniet, Dani Pedrosa, Nicky Hayden and Colin Edwards, as they chase the MotoGP World Championship. FASTEST captures some of the most amazing moments in the sport’s recent history as it shows both the incredible highs when it all goes right, and the terrible lows when everything goes wrong.

FASTEST debuted internationally on September 20, to an audience of 1,300 in London, and has received rave reviews, contributing to its global success with both fans and industry professionals alike.

“Good films about motorcycles are few in number, fewer still about motorcycle racing but Fastest is, at least in my book, equal to On Any Sunday.” – David Miller, bikesportnews.com

Neale, a UK native, has won multiple awards throughout his illustrious career for his work on such films as FASTER and The Doctor, The Tornado and the Kentucky Kid. He paired with award-winning producer Paul Taublieb to create FASTEST, as his background in motorsports and action sports made him a natural for the project. Taublieb consulted on the creation of the ESPN X Games, and now produces all that event's moto-x competitions, in addition to NASCAR and the TORC racing series. He recently wrapped production with Spyglass Entertainment on a feature film project.

FASTEST will premiere at a private and exclusive screening at The Deuce Lounge inside the Aria resort and Casino at City Center in Las Vegas on Friday, October 14. Press, media, Monster Energy athletes, and other industry insiders will be among those invited to the private event. The premiere will not be open to the public. Tastemaker screenings, available to the public, will take place on specific dates following the premiere event. These dates will be announced shortly.

The documentary is currently in limited theatrical release in areas outside of the United States. The DVD will be available in the United States in 2011. The release date will be announced shortly along with other distribution updates that should thrill MotoGP and FASTEST fans worldwide.

CONTEST DETAILS: MXi will be giving away 2 tickets to the premiere and one night’s stay at the Aria Resort and Casino at City Center in Las Vegas. T-shirts, hats and posters will also be given away. To enter the contest, and for further details, those interested can visit http://www.fastestthemovie.com/index-US-VegasPremiere.html.

They better ....... hurry, 2011 is rapidly coming to an end. Im guessing after the little closed to the public screening, it will become available immediately . I told my daughter yesterday thats what i wanted for Christmas, the 3 piece set. I do find it odd that they are saying it covers 2010 and 2011

Anyone see a schedule of North American screenings? If so, please post a link.

It hasn't surfaced on two of the 'racing sites' of which I'm a member. Suspect it will before too long. Heck, even a blurry in-theater video camera rip would be better than nothing...

In the meantime, I'll rationalize my loss by muttering, "Feh, I didn't want to see it anyway! It's just another Bopper Wankfest."

Upcoming FASTEST Screenings in the US: Chicago, Oct 21st, Luckenbach Texas (Harvest Festival benefit screening) AND Orange County, Nov. 4 - stand by for details!

They have a facebook and this was a wall post.

Just finished watching this movie. What a ....... joke! Basically, if you were too take the most rabid Rossi fan, and have him make a movie, they would produce this movie. This is nothing more than a 2 hour homage to Rossi. NOTHING MORE. 95% of every vid clip, sound bike, interview, is about Rossi. The entire story told, is 100% about him. I wouldn't mind watching a biography if I knew going in it was a biography of a rider I, but this .... is marketed as if its a movie about MotoGP, WHICH IT IS NOT.

I actually had a chance to meet the director this last Sunday, but I hadn't seen the movie yet, just the trailer. But even then I wanted to ask him when he planned to be honest about the title and marketing of his Rossi biography movies. He's lucky I hadn't seen the entire movie, or I would have called him out in public. Two hours wasted. Again, if I want to pic up a book made into a movie about Rossi, let me decide if its worth it, instead of sucking me and surely many more into thinking this was a movie about the sport. ....... liars!

Every significant moment of Valentino's life and racing career is revisited, but told in a slant and gorss bias that makes everybody else the villain and Rossi the hero.

If you want to watch a movie made by a bopper for boppers, this movie is for you!

I sat through the whole thing, but after about 20 minutes, I realized this movie would maintain its extreme Rossi-centric theme. I sat through it until the end because it is such a significant production from the sport. When will somebody make a movie about the sport of MotoGP? Probably never.

Fastest, the movie should be renamed, simply another biography of Valentino Rossi. I can't help but think that this ideology is what has bankrupted the sport today. The sport was too blinded and star struck to realize it had run into an iceberg.

EDIT: im not saying its unwatchable, just be prepared to watch a nicely done 2 hour Rossi homage.

Just wait until Rossi wins another title, then you'll get to see Still Fastest

Thanks for the heads up.

Jum got it 100% right, I watched this about a week ago.

I was fairly pissed when I watched it, but im fairly sure that one of the last lines is "In 2013 Rossi will be competing to win his x-number title" Basically stating Rossi WOULD win the '11 and '12 titles

Yep went and saw it on my Bday as a present and was disappointed. I loved Faster because it covered the 500/990's and alot of riders. I wished the movie covered this year, they wouldn't have painted such a pretty picture. Maybe they would have put a 10minute black screen with nothing to see here, 2011 didn't happen

Im not saying its unwatchable. But it was just a Rossi homage/biography. Which isnt bad in of itself, but i started watching thinking this was a movie about the sport, nothing could be further from the truth. I read Rossi's bio a few years ago, enjoyed it. But thats not what i was expecting this movie would be ENTIRELY. i would hav been ok if they spent 20-25 mins on Rossi over a 2 hour movie, but the entire movie was a bit much. I know this will come across to some as me bagging on VR, no way, i just felt duped, which made me upset at dude who made movie and totally false advertising. Its a well made movie though, and good footage, but its ALL about Rossi. Footage not of Rossi is shown in the context of the story line, which is ALL about Rossi. Sorry, bit much for me.

Edit: the movie is more a HOMAGE than a bio. I certainly wouldnt own it. Im just happy i didnt buy it and lifted off torrents.
