Estoril testing

Here we go, hopefully we can get some good information, coverage, and times for this test. We'll probably hear a lot from Ducati with all the problems they are trying to solve and how public it has become from the factory and the riders that the bike is not up to par. Ducati should have a new chassis and more work with the electronics for engine control during this test. I'm sure we'll eventually see them using an inverted swing arm and a quicker gear box, probably very similar to the Yamaha's gear box
<
. I haven't heard to much from the Yamaha camp but the riders have being saying they need more power for a long time now and after the race it's obvious they need some help with Pedrosa taking a win at a track that Jlo has been dominating. Does the Yamaha I4 have anything else to give, and can they get Ben in tune with the bike? Honda is looking like the gold standard and I'm not sure that they need anything besides continuing to fine tune the bikes to their riders. It seems that Dovi is back on track and has a good feeling from the front end so we may see him become more competitive. There isn't to much to say for Suzuki and spending money doesn't look like a wise investment for them being so far behind, hopefully they're saving it for the 2012 bike if they come back next year.

Should be good to see, I agree that all eyes will be on Ducati and Yamaha, both with axes to grind.

Burgess has been quoted as saying that the big bang yam donk can't really go much further with current rubber....

lol are u joking? In FP2 he went 1:38:5xx and race 1:38.877, now he is 1:39.056.

Valentino Rossi is the last, but run only 2 laps...wtf?

No. "@motomatters: Wow. Whatever Ducati have, it worked for Nicky Hayden. He's just taken 0.6 off his best time of the weekend."

Ow sorry, thx for the links.

Yeah it's working great for Nicky, but it seems it's not for Rossi. Same time as FP2;

Austin, any news (and I realise you got this via Twitter) as to whether Rossi is testing the new equipment at this stage?

Asking primarily based upon the times as his have not varied greatly whereas Hayden has shown major improvement from the race weekend (and not factoring in weather)

Nicky said he was confident the new engine would allow him to go noticeably quicker, so I'm guessing he's on the new engine. The official site said they plan to do runs with the old chassis back to back with the new one. Not sure if they're already on the new chassis or not. Also supposed to be working on the electronics all day. So, in summary, nothing concrete, but I'd guess Nicky's already got his hands on the new engine. As to whether or not they're into the chassis or electronics package, hard to say. And considering Rossi hasn't made much of an improvement, I've no idea what he's got bolted on at the moment. Electronics?

By the end of this test, I would say he will have Nick's bike bolted between his legs....

Simosilli is ImO going to be the man to watch out for - he's certainly (amongst other things) very resilient - I'd really like ro see him finish and win

Lollo is certainly consistent - at riding, winning, being a prick..............................

After a great season start Stoner is starting to look like he's maybe losing it - always has somebody to blame, whinge about and now he has a pain in his arse

Big surprise seeing Crutchlow up there - credit where it's due - well done

Rossi is consistently around #5 - no prizes for that - if he's not making podium after 2 or 3 more races - there may be a problem they can't fix.

Hope Pedro feels/ gets physically better - I'm maybe going to have to take back the "alienette" label I gave him - let's wait for a couple more races

CE is CE - eternal mid-field rider

Spies - I don't know - he's got to get better - try infusion of italian blood

Dovi - I'd bet in 2012 he's referred to as "previous honda/ repsol team rider" or already in 2011 "as soon to be........."

Hayden - maybe on the way ro becoming CE's lookalike on a red bike

Sic has been very fast lately. Do you think he's on the same equipment as Stoner and Dani?

Yes, of course. That's in his contract and I do not think he could be faster than the Repsol riders on inferior equipment. His main trouble is with managing the Bridgestone tires now, if he can sort that out he's a very serious contender for poles and podiums.
