Ducati boss confirms Rossi for 2011

Ok to test your hypothesis ........ he should be able to repeat next round. Lets watch
<

Crutch was already fast before Rossi ever tested the R1, to be fair... he just couldn't repeat fast laps consistently. That's where e well-tuned TC is useful. Betting on Cal Crutchlow is safe money anyway, imo.

I agree, regardless of how much valentino has helped he rode 2 fast and measured races and would seem very likely to be more consistent as well as fast from now on.

I still think there was a lot of:

Aussie's like to win in Aussieland

Spainish ........ Spainland

Brits in ..........

Sure barry, but he didn't even look like throwing it down the road which has been his problem rather than lack of pace or I imagine lack of motivation.

It was 4 days ago, bad luck chuck it's a motogp thread

Yeah and understand not everyone gets to watch it live and they have to wait for downloads to become available. And what kind of argument is your last statement??

Yes it IS a MOTOGP thread, so why have you got WSBK comments in there? Thats like Looking on the news for a footie result and getting news about a rubgy match!

Yah mean they ain't the same thing?

Everybody was riding first time on this track with the new layout
<

Everybody was racing for the first time on the track, i would be really surprised if some of the brits had not turned a wheel on it before last Friday.

Is it because they were so much stronger that year, or were the others so much weaker?

Thats exactly the same, there is no datum for the speed of a motogp bike, too much changes. laptimes can only accurately be judged relative to the current competition.

So smartAss with your logic Randy should have won the motogp race because he did the track day week before the race at silverstone.

Wsbk is often mentioned here, just look at how many others are now discussing it, my point was it's a motogp thread so why do we need to be concerned with potentially spoiling a wsbk result? these results could have been spoilt for you by an off glance at tv news or radio announcements, let alone actively checking out a motorcycle racing Internet forum 4 days after the event???? Find someone elses balls to bust as we are here discussing racing and if you don't want results then don't get out of bed!!!

the beauty of motorcycle racing and indeed a lot of motor racing is that it's not all black and white like you suggest, hence the interest, the human elements still outweight the technical, we haven't quite joined f1 yet.......

Uh No. Randy is not on the level of the 4 aliens, you could give him a month on the track and he still couldnt beat them. It would however enhance his chances of a good finish. The whole track is not new, much of it is the same track these kids grew up on. When everything else is more or else equal, track familiarity is huge.

Human influence is not relevant at all to my point.

post this here its been out a bit and tied to what rossi announces but will the JB Thing piss Mr Burgess off

all out free for all going on a yam .... flinging to begin ?.

Yamaha will ban Valentino Rossi from riding its 2011 prototype machine in Brno later this month.

Rossi's multi-million pound switch to Ducati will be confirmed immediately after the Czech Republic Grand Prix on August 15.

And as a result, the Italian will be barred from testing an early development YZR-M1 for next year on the Monday after the Brno clash.

His crew, led by Australian Jerry Burgess, will also be banned from working on the new bike and will not be privy to any technical details about the upgraded factory YZR-M1.

Rossi's Ducati deal, exclusively revealed by MCN at the end of June, will see him depart with his crew in hot pursuit.

Yamaha boss Lin Jarvis told MCN, said: "It is pretty obvious if there is at any stage a test of a 2011 prototype it will be with a rider that will be with us in 2011."

Jarvis conveyed an air of resignation about Rossi's departure, which had seemed unthinkable just two months ago when he declared his desire to finish his career with the Japanese factory.

Jarvis said: "Brno is the kind of timing we are comfortable with. We originally said we wanted to have clarity with our future plans by the summer break but that has not quite worked out. You have your own contacts within this world but from my position I can't say anything until Brno."

Ducati is still awaiting permission from Yamaha for Rossi to make his Bologna factory debut immediately after the final race in Valencia.

It is traditional for teams to release departing riders early from their contracts to begin testing for a rival squad before their contracts have expired.

Most contracts end on December 31, but most riders are released immediately after the final race.

One notable exception was when Rossi quit Honda at the end of 2003. HRC refused to release him early to test for Yamaha.

Ducati boss Alessandro Cicognani said: "We would like to work out a solution with Yamaha if a situation arises like this. The relationship between Valentino and Honda was very bad at the end. Now he has been with together with Yamaha for a long time in what has been a victorious wedding. I think it is acceptable that Yamaha would release Valentino given what he's given them in the last seven years."

Ducati has already approved Casey Stoner's release to test for Honda at the Valencia test in early November.

Jarvis added: "I think it is far too early to talk about that."

hmmm, what are the odds that Rossi and Burgess can figure out the enigma that is Ducati....I don't know but I'm not betting aginst them.

Thanks for the article Pigeon

So that would seem to confirm that JB is either going with Rossi or retiring right. Surely if he were staying, they would not ban him from working on the 2011 bike.

Surely it kinda confirms JB is not retiring? If he were retiring it would be with Yamaha and they would want to be getting the ost out of him whilst they still had him. And that would be risk free of going to another manufacturer thereafter.

If anything it confirms JB is going to another manufacturer. Just who that "other manuf." is the interesting bit.
