Dovi might be leaving Ducati

there could be some issues between Dovi and the way the team is being managed... there is no reason for Dovi to ever be stuck in Q1, but on several occasions in the last 2 seasons the teams seams to .... around in practice and Dovi ends up having to go through Q1.

Fire agent. Why would you admit to it publicly? Rule 101 in negotiation is not to show all your cards and let the other person that they are the only option or the option I most want.

They're probably at the point of accepting the offer. Otherwise, I agree.

Each side is trying to apply pressure ‘to get more or pay less’ by exploiting public media to signal to the other side with the aim of impacting the negotiation. I’m reminded of all the times riders say they have “options” to bluff, or in the case of HRC, they basically did the same to Pedro in reverse, by saying his contract is not a foregone conclusion, in other words HRC is saying they have “options”. What we are witnessing are negotiations in public. Which likely means there was an impasse in private negotiations, or the sides are playing hardball. HRC for example didn’t need to announce to the world, hey we want to make Marc’s camp happy, so we will need his seal of approval. I don’t buy it, they are a strong company, they showed VR the door and since have kept on wining championships with three different riders. Marc is smart and he is not going anywhere, everybody knows it.

HRC have a strong position despite Marc’s exceptional talent, Honda are far stronger in their position than Ducati towards Dovi. Perhaps this was a way for the Japanese factory saving face because Zarco turned them down, who knows. Dovi and Ducati are locked in an extraordinary situation because Lorenzo has made it painfully clear, despite the “new and improved” Ducati, it IS still a hell of a bike to ride. One guy is actually doing the business on it, operative word ‘one’; this puts Ducati in a weak position. Dovi is basically in the driver’s err rider’s seat here, regardless of supposed offers or not, he took the Ducati to the closing stages of the championship last year, full stop. Enter new season, he won the first race of the season, and looked to be challenging for the runner-up position in the last race until “teammate” Lorenzo went full Iann-done on him.

I don’t know if Dovi’s agent said he doesn’t have any offers on the table, frankly if Hack Oxley is reporting it, my first and always impression is that he is lying. The fact is Dovi’s agent is not capitulating to whatever soft contract offer Ducati made. So it may seem like it was a stupid thing to say, if he said it, but then again, he also rejected Ducati and told them, ‘uhm, you see that guy across the garage, he is making a shitload more money for being 20th in the championship, with 6 measly points, with 4 races behind us, oh and he just cost our boy Dovi 20 points, if not more. You know, that guy who ignored your “Map 8” and made all of you look like ....... fools on the world wide feed. That was fun.’ So I wouldn’t be so quick to say Dovi’s agent is cottage cheese. He’s doing right by Dovi, who frankly deserves a substantial pay raise.

Regarding Ducati’s interest in Cal Crashmore, you know, I wouldn’t put it past Ducati, they have made insanely stupid decisions in the past. Sorry Cal fans, but his arrogant pronouncements, again lately, demanding HRC reward him then going out and murdering another bike makes it impossible to like him. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Cal should look to Pedro for some humility and decency. Hiring Cunthoke in the first place was one of Ducati’s all time foolish decisions, and it was recompensed immediately with Buttflow DNFing with such regularity that Swiss clock makers were impressed. You can include Swiss bankers too, as his crash bill must have been staggering! And here is the real pisser, he quit half way into the contract. If Ducati want a guy talking .... about their bike and employer, they should hire Cuntslow. If they want a guy to torpedoe their bikes (i guess they'd replacing Iannone, Lorenzo in that regard) then hire Clown Cuntslow. If they want a guy with "tenacious work ethic" don't hire Cquit Crutchoe.

If Ducati are stupid enough to take crashy back after he ...... off half way through his last contract ,then quite honestly they deserve all the smashed up desmo's he will undoubtebly give them, mind you, they are paying Lorenzo 24 million euros to play backmarker so who knows?

Ducati should be looking in their own ranks if they choose to replace a factory rider. Miller, Petrucci, and Rabat have all shown good potential on less then ideal machinery. if it was me I would promote Miller, Petrucci has a GP18 and though its not the same as having factory ride, I think its obvious Petrucci will never be a title contender.

Dall'Igna just revealed that Dovi will announce if he'll be staying with Ducati "before or at Mugello".

AKA Ducati made their final offer (both money and treatments-wise) and said to Andrea "take it or leave it".

Guess we'll know soon :)

Unless they are severely financially straitened, this makes no sense, they have no reliable alternative to Dovi that I can see. Iannone would likely win races for them, but is not exactly reliable.

If Dovi and JLo both depart Iannone would be useless unless there was someone to copy settings from? That is what Crutchlow would bring to the party . It's kind of like getting two riders to do the job of one though. If not Crutchlow, Petrucci, although he certainly gets lost some weekends. Jack has improved setting up his bike but he is probably benefiting from last years data as a base.

Maybe - maybe not. If Dovi is looking at his prime years passing quickly by, and he's not getting the money or the bike he needs at Ducati, and Honda offers him a better payday, it's more than a lateral move. He knows how the Hondas handle and if he makes more money to put aside before retiring, why not. Not as if there is any superior alternative.

Knowing that - might push Ducati to improve their offer. What does he have to lose?

Honda is not going to offer Dovi any where near what Ducati is nor is anyone else.

to be fair, no one really knows what Ducati is offering. from media reports we can infer the two parties are far apart, is Dovi asking for to much or is Ducati low balling?

Gigi's comments over the weekend about developing a new chassis with Lorenzo over the next couple months, sort of make it sound like Lorenzo is sticking around.

Dovi is reportedly asking for 7mil and Ducati is reportedly offering 5 mil. They will more than likely settle at 6 mil.

Money wise, you are right, as those are rumored to be the numbers they are discussing about.

But it seems like it is also a matter of "honor" as Dovi wants to be considered the Team's first rider, he wants to see the developer's attention focused on him more than on Jorge, and he kinda wants to see that on paper aka: he wants to be making more money and getting more attention than Lorenzo.

Now Dovi and Lorenzo have been strongly disliking each other since they were on 125s, they both particularly hate being beaten by their team mate or to just see him in front of them in a race, so it is kinda obvious that if one is objectively doing so much better than the other on the very same bike he would want more attention. Even the most humble rider has a really big ego, it's just part of what they are.

I do not think Dovi is 100% right tho, as yes he is better right now but CV matters...5 titles against 1, 3 premier class titles against 0...I'd pick Dovi over Jorge any day but I think he took it a bit too far. Both him and Ducati need each other real bad, so they should just sign that ....... thing ;)

Also, Dovi won’t sell a single Panigale or scrambler for Ducati.
J.Lo might.

Agreed, as a personality he won't but a world title as a separate entity might and it's obvious that he is Duc's best bet,(out of their existing riders) to win one.
You're right though, if an individual can get merchandise/products shifting out of showroom doors then they are a valuable asset.

If Dovi won a title he would add to this ...?

It'd be a shame if Dovi went to a less competitive team just for the money. Seems unlikely that he will take the championship away from MM who is his ascendancy, but he should at least reap the benefits and recognition he deserves.
