Dovi might be leaving Ducati

Don't agree, this is his 1st season on the Duc and much as I like him it would cause the same problems as he had previously. See how many times he bins it this season then 1 more and if he's sorted then ok.

ever heard the expression, "take her to bed or loose her forever." Not many people have been able to ride Ducati GP bikes well, and the factory needs to recognize this, and lock him down now.

Horhay is useless on that bike but Petrucci and Miller are back markers.

Some bias on my part, but Stoner would quite possibly have stayed a back marker if he hadn't rather fortuitously (he was about their 4th choice) got the Ducati factory ride, which was a one year contract to hold place until Melandri was available, and as others are saying Miller seems to have a style suited to the bike, and he also hasn't thrown it down the road in a race this season (touch lots of wood). I think what he did on a Honda satellite bike is not very relevant (he did win a race), the non-factory satellite Hondas were absolutely woeful during his tenure at Marc VDS. Stoner similarly threw the LCR Honda, then the lowliest and newest satellite bike on the grid, down the road over-riding it, although he had a decent bike, his problem by his own account was that he couldn't ride the discount bin Michelin tires with which he was provided; I do tend to think myself that the Michelin front was problematic for him in general.

Judging from Dovi's body language, Lorenzo has worn-out his welcome. I hope they give Lorenzo's factory seat to Miller, and from Dovi's comments, that looks like a real possibility.

Those two haven’t liked each other since the 125s.
I guess Dovi had to keep his feelings in check when J.Lo was brought in as the next big thing, but after last year’s respective performances, mapping 8 and the Jerez Torpedo, he probably doesn’t give a .... anymore about diplomacy.

Points taken. Miller had a rough bunch of bikes to start with.

how do you define back marker? Miller has finished in the top 10 at every rounds this season, and a pole.

Just this, neither of them will ever win the championship or be in contention for it. So why put them on a bike you are trying to win the championship?

Actuallý it seems that Petrucci has had a factory bike for a year and Miller not ..... so the thought is Miller is the better prospect ..... given that they already know what Petrucci can ( or cant ) do.

Why did Suzuki re-sign rins .... its nuts.

Problem is, it's not always so clear what a rider's potential really is. Not like with MM in Moto 2. We can all say great stuff about Stoner's early rides because of hindsight, but he looked like crap in 2005. Vinales looked like a real world-beater two years ago. I'd still like to seen him on a bike not strangled by Rossi's development skills. Tho to be fair Jarvis is equally to blame for allowing it to happen. And who knows, Iannone may still mature and find consistency. He looked great today in the midst of the crash fest.

Having watched this video Paolo Ciabatti, Sporting Director of Ducati, has IMO stuffed a spoke in JLo's front wheel.
The Ducati choice: Petrucci or Miller as Dovi's teammate? | MotoGP?

Interesting, his pointing out that no one rider has stayed this long on the Ducati. It's great too that it should be an Italian rider. Even if he never wins a championship for them, he will have a real legacy with Ducati and the Italian fans.

Such a diplomat. "We don't have an unlimited budget for the other rider.. Translation, we won't throw good money after bad on a rider who doesn't produce results.

It also seems like Jorge is getting closer and closer to Suzuki. Or at least this was said on Italian TV like 50 times today.

Suzuki must be having a hard time right now, with a confirmed Rins that keeps crashing, a very unwanted Iannone that is back being fast, Jorge coming closer and (tho this is unofficial) Maverick that kinda tried to throw himself back in.

Who would have thought a year ago...

I don't think they'll plumb for JLo, why well I bet they can't pay a quarter what he's getting at the moment, which will not be sufficient for JLo.

He isn't going to get anywhere near what Ducati paid him from any team. It's going to be about what he thinks will allow him to perform to the best of his abilities and the GSX-RR is the only bike with a pending empty seat that would allow him to ride at the level he was with Yamaha.

At this point JLo is all about reinventing himself. He knows he isnt getting huge bucks no matter where he goes . I think he should take the Suzuki seat if they offer him anything over 3 million, get competitive again and take the Yamaha seat when it reopens in 21 .

Agreed.

The Suzuki seat is better than the Ducati seat at this point of his career. Another 2 years with Ducati would tank his stock more than it already has been.
