Dingo Doovers and the Deconstruction of Casey Stoner

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ROCKGOD01 @ Oct 4 2009, 08:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>well you can look at it this way. How many of predicted Rossi or even pedrosa to finish this race before Stoner? Dude did a good job for not rider in a long while. He is a great rider no matter what anyone says. Same goes for Dani regardles of his persona or lack of one. But Casey had some physical issues. People can speculate til their blue in the face but unless you know the guy anything your reading even from Schwantz is still just speculation.
All I meant was don't get ahead of yourselves. Drink up to his performance though cause it was a good one.

And on a side note, cause this thread is .... anyway, I am ....... getting tired of the pedrobots rocket starts. I think they are going to have to do something about it next year. What, I don't know?? Besides adding weight, but that doesn't really seem all that fair to me.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Talpa @ Oct 5 2009, 12:13 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Rossi's post race 'Dirty look' at the crew just after jumping off the bike was also interesting and unusual, not a happy Doctor, Motogp might be losing the GOAT earlier than we think
Sounds like something that petulant brat stoner might do after not winning a race

.

The engine suggestion is a good one, and I agree valentino didn't look right all week-end, and perhaps he is pissed off with yamaha as some of his recent utterances suggest. My money is still on him to win the championship and out-peform jorge overall in the remaining races although this will not be easy.

Yes it was very Stonerish......maybe VR needs a Sickie or 2!!!!!

I would say a combo of pissed off with Yamaha, Engine regs which are really starting to bite and a setting which screwed with his TC too much......good for title race though now he has to really perform at the Island and hes given us some crackers there when necessary, 10 second penalty 03, 04 with Max come to mind......

Yeah I get ya. I'm not saying he is going to win every race for here on out either, just that he did much better than what you could hope for after the absence.

Those starts are getting annoying. A weight min would be perfect to even things out. Hey they went to spec tires so why the hell not? Ya gotta hand it to the bot though cause he is unreal with those starts. That little .....

If any of us here walked into our bosses office and said hey i'm taking off work for a couple months cause i don't feel good, but the Doctors cant find a thing wrong with me...Boss man would laugh and say get your ... back to work.
Considerging you probably go high to work once a week...

I've heard this argument several times now. Let me ask you or anybody else making this argument: are you the sole reason for your boss's success? Are you the reason your boss is considered a legitimate player among his competitors? Are you the a major reason your boss still has his position, and because of your perfomance, he now gets to make his mortgage payment and feeds all his kids and makes his business appear successful? Are all your coworkers making the success of your company a big head ache for your boss?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then yes I don’t think your boss would or should have a problem with you taking off on a vacation. Now considering that when you came back from that vacation, you immediately made your boss look again like a genius, I think that should be pacification enough.

Casey said in his postrace interview that his podium should silence the critics. Hahaha, yeah, that won't happen.

When I saw the race - I was watching it on a tiny-... crap TV in a hotel
in New Delhi with bad reception. I was watching as carefully as possible to see what if
anything Rossi would do when he returned to the garage. I couldn't read his facial expression,
but got the distinct impression from his body language, that he was beginning to give the rear
tire the evil eye, but then thought better of it and tried to pretend that he was disinterested.
As if he was concerned that forum folks would criticize him for making excuses. I know that's
a lot to read into a brief gesture, but that was my impression at the moment.

Yeah, but it all evens out in the end, 'cause his lack of mass and body strength
limit his capacity to out-brake others.

The best riposte to this argument (not that yours is a poor one) is one I saw on another site, where it was suggested to the proponent of the argument that if as seemed likely he flipped burgers for a living, he could probably be replaced with some rapidity, whereas riders capable of putting a GP09 at the front of the field were in rather less abundant supply. I am not sure that the capacity to produce a good hamburger is necessarily universal either personally

I agree...but I don't think its just the fact that he weighs less that is giving him these starts.

I think the Honda has some awesome launch control system that is way beyond the others. Probably limited the Pedro's bike.

Am I the only one convinced of this?

That is not out of the question. Just put it on pedros bike so they dont get suspicious, I can buy that. Whatever it is it has to stop. I don't mind that he get good starts, but this is getting ridiculous. This could use its own thread, someone?

In a word . . . yes. Years ago there was a guy known as
Rocket Ron Haslam (Leon's dad) who btw - wasn't a midget
and Ron was known for having an in-born talent for getting
the holeshot at every race. He competed in 106 Grand Prix races
in the days of the 500s but only managed to get on the podium
9 times and never won a race. Some people just naturally have
quirky talents that don't necessarily take them all the way.

Of course Stoner isn't a regular guy so he can demand what we can't think of. If you do the math he is in the top three out of 7 billion (decimal then a 4 after about 10 zeros). Pretty good odds to tell your boss hey guess what I'm actually the boss and this is how it is. I hope he rapes Ducati in the next contract.

The highlighted piece is actually quite a scary thought (and I mean non sexually) as the top 4 are up for contracts next year so it will be very interesting to see how much money is available to go around.

I actually have a fear that the top 4 will command so much money (fairl enough as well) that the pool left for the remaining riders will diminish greatly and possibly mean that some will choose WSBK or other series over MotoGP for the financial rewards. To me, from mid 2010 onwards will be a very interesting time as these contracts and riders renegotiate.

Couple this with the Marlboro/Ducati/Stoner situation and it would be interesting to see how those negotiations proceed given that at least one of those parties have made clear their feelings on the other. Add that to teh situation whereby Marlboro have made it clear that they are prepared to pay big dollars and I suspect that all of these riders will negotiate extremely hard next year.

That was what I was hoping for in Laguna but the little pecker won.

I'm sure Stoner's management has the story of Lorenzo's offer and a yellow sticky with ".... ducati" written on it biding time somewhere on a boardroom desk. I was thinking abouit this whole saga and it occured to me that a savvy sales guy could go to town with this Stoner story. World class racer gets sick and races until he has to take unprecedented time off during a season and returns to glory proving all the pundits wrong....has all the makings of aother MotoGP movie. All we need is a script writer and we have "The Doctor the Spanish fly (Dani of course) and the Aussie Terror!". DVD's pumping out next week on ebay.

All good except Casey won't be riding for Ducati in '11... Vale will.
