Notice Eslick on a Buell in 6th,he led daylight practice.DMG might just get there wish, allowing a water cooled 1125 cc bike to race against 600's.
Edit Buells have huge top end advantage according to observers.Eslick clocked at 181 mph

Hacking says the lighting SUCKS

I think the lighting is very bad. If you look at the coverage of MotoGP from Qatar it looks like it’s daylight, and out there is looks like we’re running down a back alley. It’s terrible, but I’ll make do with it. I have to make do with it.”

Mladin still taking digs at DMG
Again, I am not overly excited about the type of motorbikes we have to race," said Mladin. "This is the American Superbike championship. While right now people are in a bit of economic turmoil and finances are tough at the moment, we should be racing top of the line motorbikes in America. This is the world's biggest motorcycle market and we're racing streetbikes - somewhat glorified streetbikes. If the manufacturers are willing to spend 10 to 15 million dollars a year to go racing, then let them have top of the line equipment. Is this going to make the racing any closer? I guess we'll see in six months, won't we?"

I had no idea Michael Laverty had gone stateside! I was conserned when none of the big BSB teams announced him in their lineup. What team is he riding for?

Top 30 in the first class makes the field if you follow the 107% rule.

Top 60 in the second class makes the field as well.

I heard there was some argument in the riders meeting yesterday between AMA/DMG and Mladin and Bostrom. I'd like to know what was exchanged. Poor lighting does not sound good, I'd assume that was one of the issues brought up.

I still find it hard to believe that the manufacturers and riders have sour grapes (other than issues related to safety).

This is a great opportunity for all parties involved to prove they are the best and it is a good chance to market products to the American consumer.

First, Suzuki and Mladin are on top of the time sheets which shows they are the best team with the best talent in the United States.

Second, a modified GSXR1000 is on top of the time sheets, not a custom 1-off GSXR with tons of prototype parts. It is now possible for someone to buy a stock GSXR1000 and invest $20,000 or $30,000. If an AMA-spec bike were to arrive from the factory onto show room floors, it would probably arrive at a price premium of $10,000 to $15,000.

People need to see the genius of Edmonson at work:

Remember how American distributors dreamed of influencing the way the mother factory built bikes for the American market? If the mother ship begins producing AMA-spec machines (that would be branded differently in other markets) to be purchased by racing teams and consumers alike, they could probably reach 3,000 units per year.

Does anyone understand the importance?

If the Japanese manufacturers can produce and sell expensive bikes that have a few race-only features (i.e. aggressive frame geometries), they have WSBK homologation bombs (like Ducati's line of R bikes). Obviously, these bikes would be built to race and win in the AMA since North America sales would certainly help them reach their production quota.

So by allowing fewer modifications, by banishing the manufacturers, and by forcing the racing teams to buy showroom production bikes, the AMA have actually created a new market for homologated race bikes.

Obviously, the homologated bikes are going to become a reflection of the market that develops and purchases them.

If the new AMA is successful, it will actually become the driving force behind WSBK technologies.

Its almost like cheating when you have a rider who can barely walk [back spasms] and goes out and puts a second on the field. Must be those illegal stock cams, those special spec tires, those unobtanium STOCK suspension parts. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.Mladin is out to make Boss Hogg and Jordan look like fools by insinuating that Suzuki was the reason Superbike was so one sided instead of him and Spies.i ALMOST hope it gets so bad that Mladin is doing a stoppie and wheelie stunt show the last couple of laps just to rub it in Edmondson's face.

Hodgson takes a ... at DMG

Q I'll open it up for questions.

HODGSON: I have something to say. Do they not - are they not going to show Superpole? I thought the whole idea of the show of Superpole was to actually televise it, so we can all go "Ooooh" and "Aaaah" when you're watching it.

MODERATOR: You'll see highlights of it on the primetime show that'll premiere on the 21st.

HODGSON: Right. 21st.

MODERATOR: March 21st. There'll definitely be highlights on there.

It is obvious as hell that DMG is trying to snuff out Superbike. The riders know it, the OEM's know it and the fans know it. They never wanted it and even though they are saying it is the Premier class,Daytona Stock Club Racing Sportbike is their baby.

I was just looking at the Supersport results. I don't want to post the results because there is no spoiler in the title butI do not see any names I recognize. I thought there were going to be a few Red Bull Rookies in that class. Or maybe I was mistaken for the other class of which name I have yet to figure out.
I can't help but to think about how young the kids in that class are. If you've ever been to Daytona
and been under the banking you quickly realize how truly different that track is than anyplace you will ever see.(maybe the California car tracks are similar). It's a track that as a fan and a rider you know if something happens on the banking than nothing good will come of it. It's a very scary place and if it was my 16 year old kid out there than I can't say I would want to see them race.
I'm not trying to argue agains't young kids racing in general but just pointing out that to race there truly takes a serious commitment from both parent and child.

Kris Turner is the only name that I saw. He ran the RBR's in Spain.
