Well, that was interesting.

Did someone call Redding an "alien" a few posts ago?  GMAFB!

Solid ride from Dovi.  The Ducati seems to hold up well long distance when everyone else begins losing grip.   Cal is going to be out a while I think.  That's unfortunate. JL is clearly feeling the pressure and he's not reacting well to it.  I think Rossi would have been on the podium absent his tire issue.  Rossi will be there all season I think if they can get the tire setup corrected.

MM getting what he deserves.  He's just that much better than everyone else.  Can't take anything away from him.  Finally, Bradley looked sporty there at the end.  I think he'll continue to improve while everyone else seems to clamor for Redding who's best accomplishment is Moto2 runner up...hardly all star pedigree.

I called Redding a potential alien in an earlier post. 'scuse me while I wipe this egg off my face.

Two massive mental errors from JLo in as many races. Guy needs to get it together quick before he completely throws the season away.

Fantastic stuff from Dovi. Not surprised about Cal. Like so many others, I said before the season that Cal would spend a good chunk of his time tossing the Duc into the gravel. He hasn't disappointed so far. Looks like he might be out for a while with that wrist, though.

Bradl is going to be out of a job by year's end if he keeps this up.

MM is simply too good and too fast for the competition, including his teammate. We may be in for a very boring season.

I thought that it was reported that Crutchlow broke a bone in his wrist.: BT Sports/Neil Hodgeson I believe

MM - could feasibly go all season without a loss.

Pedders - Overall #2 in 2014?

Dovi - you are better than you get credit for.

Cal - Liking the Duc now? Glad your back in 2 weeks.

J-Lo - Go and pay for the best sports psychologist in the world.

Vale - OK we'll give you the chewed front this time but ya better get on it.

When JL jumped the start - my stomach dropped out. He said he had mosquitoes in his helmet.

Friggin' shame that stupid Honda didn't keep their word and maintain a bike for Dovi. So much

tallent. Soon as they get three podiums - to they lose their fuel advantage. It's gonna suck.

As expected Marquez won by a country mile with Pedrosa in second. Very surprised with Lorenzo... Never seen anything like that...

Aleix is on the "podium" again by being first open spec rider...

Bautista crashes again, big surprise. That guy is wasting the 4th best bike on the grid! Bradl at least didn't crash, but he got beat by a freakin' Ducati. Smith had an impressive race in 5th, being the top Yamaha at a track where all the Yamahas struggled.

Crutchlow binned it, big surprise there, though looks like he had some mechanical issue as well.

Is it possible that Bautista and Redding could switch bikes mid season? I can imagine Gresini might want to give Redding an earlier shot on the prototype.

How is Crutchlow crashing a surprise? But Bautista is proving to be more useless by the race. He may as well hop on the RCV now, it's probably the bike he'll wind up on next year anyway.

Dovi did everything right in the circumstances, but I'm more impressed with Iannone whose fastest lap was more than half a second better than Dovi's fastest -- he rode a brilliant race, only to be left in the ..... by the idiotic Bridgestones 2013, seven laps from a deserved podium. I also found Rossi's race brilliant and promising after a bad start, until his tires lasted.

It seems the only team free from tire trouble was HRC. Great! Marquez 1, Pedrosa 2. I hope this is not the 2014 singsong... MM himself was so bored that he risked a crash at the last corner...! :)  We will never know what Lorenzo could have done with his preferred tires, had he not succumebd to his nerves again.

Some say that tire preservation is an art. Maybe, but who cares for tire preservation skills? We watch GP to see a display of the best riding skills on the best bikes of the world. Tires should never become a significant limitation for a rider or a bike, (unless a team fails to choose the right one of course; but that assumes that there was also the right choice available, for all).

He was offered the LCR bike! He turned it down & went to tech3!

come on, this race was primarily a tire farce. apart from HRC almost everyone got caught out. Dovi was able to keep a constant - albeit rather slow - pace and somehow managed to podium. take nothing away from him, that was a great and clever ride. but I don't see the point in bashing those whose tires went away. this happened to far too many riders, it was almost ridiculous. screw bridgestone. and why all the damning of Bradl? kept the tires longer than VR, for instance, didn't drop as far back and stayed ahead of both Tech3s. not over-impressive, but not bad either, given the circumstances. Bautista did the same as his teammate: was slower than those on comparable machinery and binned it. in Qatar he was fighting with Pedrosa for the podium when he went off, not that bad either. so take it easy. this was a freak race.

Did Crazy Joe use the soft option and Dovi the medium ?

Because he is on the bike that even you said was the only one not caught out by tire wear. Bradl is under achieving, not as bad as Bautista, but under achieving all the same.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that Bridgestone is supplying tires for free. If the teams want to pitch in a couple million each, im sure they could get more choices.

they can't 'pay for tires', even though they wanted - and want - to. they are paying ridiculous dev costs to make their bikes work with those crappy tires. BS are under achieving, to use your terms. two carcasses and three or four compounds to choose from shouldn't be too hard for them to deliver. or keep on offering what's on offer now for free and add some more choices that teams can buy. and rd Bradl: he is on a factory Honda, but not riding for HRC. and that makes one hell of a difference, in particular as electronics are concerned. I'm not on a mission to defend the guy at all costs, but I wouldn't call his Austin performance an under achievement. or was Rossi under achieving compared to the Tech3 guys? wouldn't say so, even though they beat him by a mile. and still finished behind Bradl, and Dovi for that matter.

Lets not forget that every one of Pedrosas teammates was too good and too fast for him. Hes been a rolling Repsol billboard for 9 years now. GP is starting to look like the AMA of years past. Its a grid stocked with journeymen that are good at selling bikes but past their prime of competitive racing and the rest are the best to come out of the Spanish feeder system. Marquez appears to be a special talent but its hard to tell when your on a Honda.

Lorenzo is without a doubt special. I dont buy that hes folding under pressure. Hes had his back against the wall before and never cracked. Mistakes happen but were all fooling ourself that he was going to beat a Honda this year.

Nice ride by dovi in the mystery class. Now that hes had some success its time for Dorna to flog Ducati for the achievement.

Ride thru penalties are stupid and ruin the sport. Jorge gained a 2 second advantage on a mistake and was penalized at least 20 seconds for it. It was not premediated so why should a rider get a death penalty for a mistake. Give him a 5 second penalty and the race gets infinitely more interesting. Instead Marquez checks out and tv's get turned off.

Nonsense, what do you suggest, let the race play out then deduct 5 seconds from his time. What if he wins the race by 5.1 seconds, you going to give him a win. He was desperate to get out front so he could try and take away the competitions advantages, just like everyother rider wants to be out  front to try and take away advantages and exploit there own..How many times have we heard that Lorenzo cant afford to let the Honda out front because they can  "park it" in the corner and take away the Yamaha's biggest advanyage, cornerspeed. What if Lorenzo just so happens to take out one of the front runners while they are trying to get back his illegal advantage. Rules tend to spoil everything for your kind dont they.
