Stick a fork in Rossi. King of 4th place.

Actually King of 5th in FP2, but still better than his No1 @ Yamaha team mate at 12th FP1 and 8th FP2!!

Only 1 lap each from DP & AE that bettered Rossi's FP1 times in FP1.  AE's quick lap was on soft tyres.

AE fastest lap : 2'05.591 fastest not on softs : 2'07.412

DP fastest lap : 2'05.676 2nd quickest lap : 2'06.479,

Rossi laps quicker than both 2nd quickest/quickest not on softs laps : lap6 = 2'06.360, lap 9 = 2'05.972, lap 11 = 2'06.313

Also quicker than AE not on softs : lap 4 = 2'06.634, lap 5 = 2'06.673, lap 10 = 2'07.126, lap 14 = 2'06.801, lap 15 = 2'06.099

In FP2, Dovi & Iannone on softs:

AD fastest lap : 2'04.495, fastest not on softs : 2'05.386

DP fastest lap : 2'04.623, 2nd quickest lap : 2'05.004

AI  fastest lap : 2'04.669, fastest not on softs : 2'05.161

Rossi laps quicker than all 2nd quickest/quickest not on softs laps : lap 14 = 2'04.793,  lap 16 = 2'04.804

Also quicker than AD not on softs : lap 11 = 2'05.298

Don't think Rossi is quite done yet - better than Lorenzo both FP1 & 2 apart from anything else!!

Only Marques is in a league of his own here, though no real surprise given his recovering leg and prowess here last year.

I am not surprised about the gap between MM and the rest of the field, he's the best and the youngest and he loves that track. But I feel for poor Pedrosa who is laggin more than 1 second behind his teammate,  That must be a big blow for his self-esteem, if he doesn't recover quickly. But while he might settle for second and be relatively happy, what about Puig? Oh my, is he going to shoot himself?

What (really) puzzles me is Lorenzo staying behind Rossi so far, FP1 and FP2. Especially considering that he had complained so loud against the 2014 tires, insisting that the 2013 ones were so much better for his M1 and his riding style (he's the only MotoGP rider who cannot point and shoot effectively, relying only on 250 style corner speed).  Now, Bridgestone tried hard to please him by bringing back his beloved 2013 tires (which pissed off all other riders btw), or maybe they just jumped at the occasion to get rid of remaining 2013 stock.... Whatever, surprise, even with the 2013 tires Lorenzo is struggling more than expected. So where actually lies his problem? Is Marquez' stellar form eating away at his peace of mind as well?

Marquez on pole, no surprise there. Dani just behind him, where he'll probably be all season. Nice form by Bradl to round out the front row.

Jorge and Rossi separated by one thousandth of a second. I'm impressed-this is the second race where Rossi has shown he has the same pace as his teammate.

Perhaps the most impressive, however, is Redding. He came within a few hundredths of a second to putting the RCV into Q2. He's making the RCV look faster than it is...which is a sign that we might be looking at an alien.

I may have to take back my fork. Rossi is equal Lorenzo during qualifying.

I haven't watched the Q2 yet but Rossi hanging with Lorenzo bodes well for him being able to fight at the front during the season

Or at least for the crumbs behind Marques :)  Your fork maybe useful later, though hard to eat crumbs with it :D

Somebody asked Rossi: "Can Marquez be stopped on Sunday?"

Answer: "Only if he gets lost on his way to the track, or if the aliens kidnap him".

Marquez might run away with the title this year. His speed is impressive and he just keeps on getting faster.

Lorenzo is going to play it safe and puts some points on the board.

I would love to see Rossi and Lorenzo duke it out for the podium or 4th place.

My prediction:

Stefan Bradl is going to break out and punt Pedrosa into the gravel. The podium will be Marquez, Lorenzo, Rossi

I've never seen anyone make that bad of a start outside of a video game.

that was funny, haha he was like "oh .... it" when he realized and accelerated

im only watching via timing screens, wtf happened to rossi?

caught up to Iannone..looks like he was going to make a pass but then started going backwards.

front tire issue probably. he was tipping it in gingerly after the first 6-8 laps

I agree. Lorenzo was like Oh Well and just gunned it.

I guess the switch to the 2013 tyre caused front tyre issues. It was a pretty boring race

interesting race somehow. so cool for Dovi and Ducati. Yamaha wtf?! Hondas untouchable. great battle for P3 all race, with lots of different folks able to show their craft. nice one this, even though it was a snorefest at the front (impressive, still).

Marquez has mind ...... Lorenzo out of his game. Great ride right up until he about threw it away on the last corner. Dani was Dani, accepted his spot without a fight. Good to see a Duc on the podium, Congrats Dovi. Bradl will lose his seat at the end of the year unless he picks it up. No excuse to be beaten by a Duc. Smith getting results by circumstances, but did beat his teammate. Crazy Joe did a fine job till the tires went away, im guessing. Rossi wtf ?, Lorenzo WTF, of yea, you are mind ....... Nick beat Redding yipee. You could see the difference in performance between the bikes when Lorenzo caught Hayden. Hayden holds him off for close to a lap then they hit the straight and it looked like Hayden was on a Moto 2 bike the way Lorenzo blew past him on acceleration.
