<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I posted in here on purpose as a comparison between a World Championship running a control tire versus a World Championship that doesn't.
How does one argue that a control tire or no control tire makes for better or worse racing? The most recent races for each series was pretty much identical.
I see. The WSBK race at Monza was amazing, BOTH races. I know it was not the most recent race when you posted. The one thing that I like was the fact that I didn't hear the announcers, once, say that someone shredded their tires or this is a Bridgestone/Michelin track.
I very much like your last question that you ask in your post. If we prove that it doesn't make a huge difference in racing results or close racing then why have control tires or why not have control tires? One could argue that its a waste of money time and speculation from all to have different tires. On the other hand one could argue that it takes away from the spectacle and prototyping. Some may enjoy the tire war just as much as the bike or rider war. IMHO The fact that we are so removed from what actually happened with the tires is a total turn off. I want to see pics of the tire with statements from the rider about how the tire performed. All we get is speculation from the commentary and people on the forums and a few random pics. Some here may argue that they can see what is going on with the tire by watching the rider and bike move on the track. This may be true in some cases. But I can't count how many times I have heard Mamola say, "Look how his bike is moving out of that corner, I suspect that he is going to be in trouble." But then the rider is fine. We also get some statements from the rider but they are rarely going to tell us what really happened. Lots of complaints of grip. Why would they flame their tire manufacturer? Sometimes...
