Congrats to Lorenzo and his team.
I think this goes some way in proving that "the wall" or running each ride as a separate team is a winning formula. It lets each team do their thing without interference from the other side.

Came across a recent interview with Lorenzo he gave before his championship winning race.

How would you describe this season?
"It started with an uphill climb. In Qatar it was hard to ride with an injured right hand, but we finished second and that was very encouraging. Jerez was a great race, in Spain, and the one that I liked the most... aside from almost drowning during the celebration! And from there on we won seven more races. Silverstone is where I rode the best. And then there were more difficult moments, like at Aragon. I could always count on support from Yamaha, who gave me a great bike, and we have progressed a lot during the season. We need to enjoy this title and try to win as many races as possible, especially now that we can't lose the championship."

How would you describe this season?
"It started with an uphill climb. In Qatar it was hard to ride with an injured right hand, but we finished second and that was very encouraging. Then at Mugello, Rossi broke his leg & from then on we found things a little easier & we won more races than I think we would have done under normal circumstances. Silverstone is where I rode the best because Valentino wasn't there to put me under any pressure. And then there were more difficult moments, like at Germany, because he came back. I liked it better when he wasn't here.
I could always count on support from Yamaha, who gave me Rossi's bike, and we have progressed a lot during the season.
We need to enjoy this title while it lasts, especially now that Pedrosa is injured & there is no-one left I have to fight with, we can't lose the championship."

As there are not all opinions allowed in this thread i'll wait for the thread where everyone can post their real opinions to this title!
to say something positive: he really was VERY strong this year...
Chops & Talps, the point is the wall is not working for Repsol Honda. Frankly, Stoner has a point. (Despite Stoner making it).
How do you figure that ? Dani despite Retiring from 1 race and a further 2 dnf's this season is in 2nd place on 228pts.
Dove is in 5th despite 2 retirements this season and is on 179pts. 1 point behind 4th place stoner and 2 points behind rossi although rossi as we know missed out because of the leg break. Looks like the wall has worked ok in the HRC garage to me.
The wall is working if their goal is NOT to get a title. It seems they need to change something, don't you think?
Conversely, the wall may have worked at Yamaha, because unlike Repsol Honda, the wall didn't produce alliance to only one rider (this truth can be check against what actually occurred, that is, despite ONE of the Yamaha teammates adamantly demanding preference, which lead to his protest of this reality in the form of leaving the team). In Repsol Honda's case, the wall has been detrimental to the other rider (not the case at Yamaha's handling of such a barrier, which is what would have happened had they gone with Honda's MO of handing a wall).
