I think after all these years, he's proved whatever he's going to prove. My sense of the guy is there's no way he's going to step down to WSBK. It kinda made sense when Nicky did it. Superbike is where he made his mark before coming to Europe. Pedrosa on the other hand has raced in GP classes since he was a kid. He doesn't need the money. And moreover, the risk of further injury whilst competing in a lesser class, can't have much appeal.

Have seen a story/rumour about the 'spare' Yamaha being a possibility but I suspect that a lot will depend on who gets that team and whether DP has the desire to keep going and give an FU to Puig.

I don’t want to see him in the WSBK, but I would like to see him on a competitive GP bike that would be more his fit. I know Honda tried and tried designing a perfect bike for him and it didn’t work but I somehow feel Yamaha or Suzuki would work better for Dani.

Saw something the other day where he requested a meeting with Jarvis about the SIC Yamaha satellite ride and promptly demanded identical equipment to Rossi and Vinales. Yamaha historically doesn’t go that route with satellite bikes and probably won’t until Rossi’s team takes over.

Once again, I will point to the Jarvis interview where he said factory spec satellite Yamahas are possible.

Would be hilarious if Pedro got an M1 and outscored J.lo and his Honda next year.

That is a good point. There is a general vibe that this may be a 'boring' season dominated by Marc, but as the points from last season show, things can turn around rapido.

Marc spoke of a particular "motivation" after the Argentine debacle. I noticed few journalist refused to acknowledge this and rather chalked up Marc's subsequent run to the practically 'perfect' RCV. Maybe, perhaps, but I think it had to do with him deciding to make a statement on the track (which btw, he said as much). The thing is, I think unlike the journalists, those sensitive to the ebbs and flows of 'viewership' saw/see a different development and projected the what if, if these "boring" races continued: enter "strange" tire allocation at Mugello. I don't mind if someone reads this and responds with 'tin foil hat' rebuffs, all I know is 'the way of the world' is not limited to or excludes such a kingdom as is GP, those that rule...rule, lobby, legislate, and create the environment that maintains the power structure that is most profitable. This isn't an exception. We need eyes tuned in.

If the tires are a bag of nails for Honda this weekend then you may find that that starts to gain some traction with the masses.

I'd love to see him on the M1 - but that seems like a bit of a unicorn scenario at this point. At this point Yamaha (or so I imagine) would or should be pouring their resources into making the bike competitive again, rather that stretching it's budget to create another team, which is after all, not just making a few more bikes but having to make that many more replacement parts and updates on a regular basis. As they don't seem inclined to out-spend Honda to win a championship, it seems, at this point to be unlikely.

Apparently he is going to announce what he's up too this weekend. I read it somewhere, but for the life of me can't remember where, (it wasn't on a toilet wall or anything, it was a reputable outlet).
 
No announcement from Pedrosa, appears he was going to retire and something has come to put off the decision.
Or maybe the other way around.

His announcement is basically that there is no announcement this weekend.
Very much sounds like it isn't retirement, he has options but won't say what series never mind team.
I reckon if he was going to retire he would have just said that.
 
According to what the usual birdies told me, Pedrosa's options would seem to be either a 2 year contract for the [non-existing-yet] Yamaha Petronas team or a contract as a KTM tester that would include 2 or 3 wild cards per year. Mike Leitner, who is currently one of the KTM managers, has been Pedrosa's crew chief for 9 years and that would be why he is wanted as a tester at KTM.
 
Is this not a bit weird?! Who made him have a press conference? A whole thing with media for him to say "I have no news" is a bit odd...

Jorge got his HRC seat, it’d be a shame if he retires just because there are no available rides out there. But now I think he does have something in the works especially after the “no news” press conference.
