Stoner confirmed by LCR Team
News, 29/12/05

The LCR Team run by Lucio Cechinello, set to move up to the MotoGP class in 2006 with the support of HRC, has confirmed that Casey Stoner would be its sole rider in the premier class.

"I am very happy to make my MotoGP debut with Lucio," said Stoner, who had previously ridden for the LCR Team in the 125 and 250 classes. "The LCR Team is like a home away from home. 2006 will be my fifth year in the World Championship and the fourth with the LCR Team and I think we will get good results together like last season."

“I already lapped on the RC211V last November in Valencia and Malaysia and I immediately had a great feeling with it. I am looking forward to test it again," added the Australian, who had started the pre-season with the Honda Pons squad before moving back to LCR.

The new-look LCR Honda team will join the other MotoGP teams in late January at Sepang, Malaysia, for the first test session of 2006.

I reckon he will do great( for an Aussie ), pity he is still not with Pon's team as they would have more experiance than LCR, but I still reckon he will clean out the weed (Pedrosa). Its gonna be so interesting.

How many days is it now

Ben we need a counter on the front page counting down the days to the 1st GP!!!!

Sticking up for one of us, eh Marbs?
Personally, I don't like Stoner. And while I wouldn't cal myself a fan, lil Dani has impressed me in the past....
But I'm just gonna dwell on this for a second. Did you know that AUSTRALIAN Crashey's hometown of Kurri Kurri in AUSTRALIA is also home of AUSTRALIAN international MX legend Chad Reed?
By entering GP's, Stoner will not only compete at the AUSTRALIAN motoGP, but he follows in the footsteps of the likes of the first AUSTRALIAN world champion Wayne Gardner, and mutiple 500cc champion and winner of the inagural WSBK race Mick Doohan, who hails from Queensland (My state) in AUSTRALIA. Queensland is also home to AUSTRALIA'S Suzuki motoGP rider Chris Vermulen, who last year in WSBK was teamed up with AUSTRALIAN WSS Champ Karl Muggas. As a matter of fact, the '05 WSS vice-Champion was AUSTRALIAN Kevin Curtain, who's AUSTRALIAN teammate was Broc Parkes.
Not to mention the AUSTRALIAN who beat Vermulen in SBK last year, Troy Corser, who follows on from Former WSBK Champion Troy Bayliss, From AUSTRALIA. And then theres those other talented WSBK riders, Garry McCoy, Steve Martin, and Andrew Pitt (All AUSTRALIAN). Pitty rides for Yamaha's factory SBK team. Coincidentally, Yamaha's Championship-winning motoGP bike (Piloted by GOD) is back up by a team of mostly AUSTRALIAN mechanics, led by Jeremy Burgess, who rides a Honda ST1100 when he's home in AUSTRALIA.

By the way, I heard 3 times AUSTRALIAN SBK Champ Shawn Giles is heading your way Marbs, let me know when he wins the NZ championship.

I didn't know "clean out the weed" meant "get soundly beaten by"

250s to 990s will be hard for both of them, more so Pedrosa because he's small, but he's better than Stoner, so it should be pretty evenly matched. I don't think either of them will take the championship. They don't have the build or the experience to be consistent enough, yet. And they'd have to beat Rossi (Not going to happen) Melandri (I suspect his late season sucess was just the tip of the iceberg) and Hayden (He'll win another race
<
Seriously, he could have won mre but Rossi has a tendancy to hog the podium with his 11 wins)

Marb's I studied real hard for that post

Bet ya didn't know Chad chook chaser Reed and Crashey come from the same town though
<

You would have seen him at PI this year "I just don't think Pedrosa's as good as everyone says he is, And i'm out here to prove that. I think I'm better than Dani anyway. My mummy loves me" All that ......... Then what happens? Casey crashes out of first, Dani wins from 6th or somthing start, his win secures him the championship from Stoner by 1 point, at Stoner's home track! And after the race a teary eyed Dani said "Well I heard stoner saying some things before the race and that motivated me"
I say what goes around comes around.
Pedrosa is better than stoner, he's proved that. But I think 990s will take their toll on him, unless he does some serious working out. Crashey, on the other hand, just needs to get out of him late puberty cycle and grow a bit.

Yes richo I was resonably impressed the you had spent a bit of time on Google sorting it out.

I'll have to keep an eye on this Giles chap now.

But Stoner will wipe the floor the weed sooner or later, the weed is overated.

Ok I see where your coming from but we will just have to agree to disagree cause I am a casey fan and I think you have the wrong idea about the bloke, anyway I could go on about my thoughts about these 2 but we will just wait and see what 2006 brings.

I'm not siding with you marbs, but I gotta admit "The weed" is a catchy nickname

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (katherine @ Jan 4 2006, 08:25 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Giles as in Shawn??

Yea read that patrioitc piece I wrote before

You know I've met him, kat? (That's the only namedropping I can do) Then again, how many thousands of riders have you met?

Richo, I read Casey's mouthing off at the Aussie GP a bit different. I don't think the Weed likes a bit of stick, Lorenzo has been giving him a bit though the year, especially at Sepang where Lorenzo went and eyeballed him on the grid, and the weed replied by falling off. I don't think it was Arrogance on Stoner's part mouthing off ( although been an Aussie you naturally assume that ) but just trying to unsettle him. It just didn't come off.

Its a pity you have the press building things up there in Aus we certainly don't hear it here. Just got to remember the press is always out to sensationalize everything, and make things up to sell copy, ya can't beleive a lot of stuff they write. And Aussie media been what they are, they are only second to the English rubbish.

Hey glad ya liked the weed, seems to fit quite well I reckon, Teo dosn't like it

Well i will go one better I have seen him in his undies

You can call him whatever, I don't care, I will be too happy celebrating how he is wiping the floor with Crashey (and the rest) to worry about silly names.
