Casey Speaks

One that edits existing content to flatter Ducati?

I know Ducati use all sorts of underhanded tactics to control online dialog, but this would be an interesting new tack.
I agree that "Gloria's" post sounds pretty artificial but isn't this place way too small for manufacturers to get involved with their own ChatGPT accounts?

It reads like some corporate flack told ChatGPT to absorb a little of this and a little of that from other people's posts and instructed it to regurgitate it in the style of Kropotkin. Except it's such soulless writing. BTW - this site doesn't have as many active members as Smashnet, but if you look at past threads and compare the number of participants to the number of viewers, you may be surprised. This has always been a place with healthy debate, and at times we've had some seriously brilliant members posting here. Some lurkers may be robots, but a lot of folks just drop in to read informed debate about the sport. Me, I mostly chat here and post opinions. But I've written non-racing related stuff for American Book Review, NY Press, The Village Voice, The World, Autonomedia Press, St. Martin's Press etc. Can't say with 100% certainty, but my gut feel is this post, regardless who's ultimately responsible for it, is essentially computer generated. The longer it's around, the easier it gets to spot. It's not that difficult to generate this crap. Dumb-... college students are doing it all the time, and . . . getting caught on a regular basis.

I'm a moderator on a busier forum and what I've noticed is that the occasional ChatGPT posts we get are from new users who don't post a second post and hence currently they aren't a problem. I get the impression its just the odd person playing with ChatGPT. At this point it doesn't seem to be spammers but that could change.

Well, the bot copied my post conceptually, including key words and some phrasing, but proclaimed that the Ducati Cup would be exciting. Thanks for the critique? 😄
