does anyone else think dorna is trying too hard with all the hashtags?

i swear they use more than a 12 yr old girl on instagram.

like does anyone else search online "#kneedown"?

I think they are a bit much also. I have a twitter account to keep track of all the motorsports happenings, but I haven't figured the hash tags out...

i think it's distracting, especially during the race. i mean, my only guess is because they want to get their hashtags popular on twitter, instagram & facebook...but if you are going to hashtag it has to make sense.

i guess it grinds my gears because i've worked on social media before & they just aren't doing it right. they are over doing it.

I agree. I assumed it was part of some new strategy that coincided with the new MotoGP website... speaking of, the MGP website this year is soooo much better than past years.

at first i was un-sure about it. but then it's grown on me. i like that they integrated the riders twitter/instagram but it gives you a little peek into their lifes that aren't all racing.

and i'm 100% sure it's probably a reason for the new site, but it still doesn't make sense to me. i mean look at the homepage "off track: #spanishgp"...what???

mind you i think it's kinda .... to use that particular header picture, as much as i wanna play with VR's butt...JLo won in Jerez so he should not be BLURRED out in the picture!!!

I didn't like it at first either but it's starting to work for me. Now I just wish Dorna would make the SBK website the same.

The whole kneedown graphic is weird to me. Pretty much because they always have their knee down on most corners. Elbowdown is a little different.
The fact that they won't allow their free vids to be posted and viewed on facebook has always bothered me. If someone has to click to go to a different sight they just aren't going to do it.
But maybe the hashtag thing means they are at least trying to promote the sport via social media. But still not in the best way in my opinion.

I can't understand why anyone would want to use any of the "social media". its full of trolls, idiots and full of appalling punctuation, bad spelling, slanderous comment.

I'm sorry I think its crap, who wants to read about what they had for breakfast and how often they go and hug a tree.

You're on this message board, no?

This was social media before Facebook, MySpace, Friendster, and so on.

Back in the good old days (that really weren't good) the internet encouraged social interaction by way of message boards. Then it become a hodgepodge of those, and then the AOL chat room. Ahhh how I miss those days. Nothing better than being a 13 year old sitting there in the middle of the night with .... in hand, asking frantically, "A/S/L?" with the hopes I might snag some virtual ......

Though in retrospect, I wonder how many of those girls, really were girls.

But anyway, yes this is social media in all it's glory; anonymous .... talking, outright libel, threats, and genuine fun.

I agree if there is any sort of hashtag ........ on screen, i can understand elbow down. even though i still may never understand it.

however, i completely agree with you on how hashtags alone are not the best way to promote the sport.

at least where i live, it's like word of mouth. but almost every rider i encounter and talk about it with – they start watching because they didn't know about it.

That picture is exactly what comes to mind when I think back to those days.

But let me tell you, I wanted to believe so badly that there was some hot sexy girl on the other computer.
