I am warming to some aspects of your argument. I would have thought that saying a control tyre or quasi-control tyre would benefit rossi as the best rider is fairly hard to argue with. It also seems likely that tyres are the difference between stoner this year and last year, since the tc which was apparently the explanation for his speed last year is presumably still in place. I still think that it is far more likely that stoner and ducati have stuffed up rather than been conspired against, and yamaha in particular have obviously made significant advances with this year's bike.

in my post. I was just horsing around.

I don't think Stoner is being discriminated in a de jure fashion. There is no rule and I don't believe there is a conspiracy geared to take him off the top step. I do; however, believe that their are some collaborative operating agreements going on a DORNA that are screwing Casey over in a de facto sense. In other words they didn't set out to remove Stoner, but Stoner is now missing the equipment he needs to succeed so he is being removed anyway.

I'm also convinced that Ezy is indifferent to the consequences Ducati will face as a result of the tire agreements. He really couldn't care less about Casey's title defense. Rossi and Pedrosa on the other hand, have both gotten the rubber they need to succeed this season. Ezy was going to make sure of that. Lorenzo's success has been a pleasant surprise.

I don't care if Stoner repeats. All I care is that he gets a fair title defense without the meddling of the governing body. I watched Nicky go through this. He didn't have a fair defense because he didn't show up on his championship winning bike with his championship winning tires and go to battle against the rest of the field. He showed up on an awkward weedwacker that had a plethora of problems. The governing body was responsible for the fact he didn't have the equipment he needed, but the changes were fair. Stoner is going through a similar crisis. He still has his championship machine but his tires have gone missing. Furthermore, DORNA have unfairly altered the competitive environment to make sure his defense is more difficult. That shouldn't be the fate of a young man who rode so brilliantly last year.

I reckon he can defend his title, there's still a long way to go! It just goes to show that 1 or 2 ..... races where things dont go your way can change everything(Rossi 06 for instance), it highly likely that Vale, Jorge and Pedrosa will have a crappy race or a DNF at some point and all of a sudden Casey will be back in the mix...

Hope Vale smokes them though!
