That’s the thing, Honda have burnt a considerable number of satellite riders in the last decade, and it is hard to believe none of them had any talent, particularly the likes of Bradl. They are pretty much entirely dependent on MM, with Dani worthy though he may be hardly a long term bet for the future. I guess MM as their only option hardly makes HRC a one trick pony, as a conveyance he is more an intergalactic starship, but if he gets bored and leaves I am not sure where they go, particularly with their engineering led culture producing not very rideable bikes in recent years which MM has mainly overcome.

Absolutely. If Marquez the golden goose were to leave the nest. They would be sitting on non viable eggs much like yamaha at the moment. IF Marquez were to switch jump from the nest, he knows his time would be in this next two seasons. Knowing well there is none to ascend him whilst he chases another crown in deeper waters.

As long as Honda are competitive (which they certainly look to be this yr), there is no way 93 will even entertain leaving until he beats Rossi's championship record.

Interesting read and I look forward to his season but talk like that is no way to sell T-shirts.

Well I have 2 of his and why isn't it a way to sell t-shirts I like his style of talk.

If Honda is nearly as fast as at the test, this year will be Marquez or Pedrosa. Far away the Ducati and even in an other stratosphere the Yamaha boys, except Zarco in the beginning of the season where he benefits of the data from the 2016 bike and the already perfect set ups. It seems that Yamaha is a little bit lost. And it's a fact, that they are too late with the electronics. Ducati already had the MM and Honda employed the best of the rest from MM meanwhile Yamaha was sleeping ...

Quite likely. Which means even more so there is no path for anyone via a satellite Honda and Honda have no incentive to give their satellite riders competitive bikes.

I was and am not sure what to make of the changes in the Honda management structure. I doubt MM cares al that much, but one thought I had was that for Alzamora the current situation is probably perfect, and ensconces Pedrosa, the perfect wing man for MM.

That is just something I have always said, which is just because you can win in one class does not guarantee you a win in another class but, I will counter by saying that your examples (Lorenzo and Marquez) both went direct to factory rides in the top grade which, as we know, riding a factory (particularly a Yamaha or Honda RCV) WILL make winning easier.

With out a doubt that is the case.
How well do you think Pedrosa would have fared if he went the same route as others like Bradl. He would have been out of GP years ago

They'll have been melted down I guess for new ones ;)

Perhaps referring to ongoing development of tyres during the season, the cost of which was one reason given for not continuing with Vinales’ tyre along with the new one after the riders’ vote last season, even though they obviously hadn’t discarded the previously rejected tyre.

Marc is in the form of his life at the moment and I have no doubt that if he jumps ship now, he will win another championship within the next 2 years, perhaps even the first year. But yes, if he does, Honda’s goose is cooked. Dani or Cal aren’t going to win them a championship and Nakagami/ Morbidelli/ Lüthi are far too green. If Marc does leave, their only play would be to convince Lorenzo to jump ship, but I really do not think J.Lo will do well on the raging bull that is the Honda.

I reckon Zarco would go honda factory in an instant. Would also love to see Miller on it. Remember the only real competition they have is Marc and Dovi.

I thought that Miller on the factory bike was always the long term plan when Honda helped him skip Moto2 straight to GP.
Wouldn't be surprised to see it happen if he has a decent year on the duke.

I don't think that ....... will be moving again to Honda. If he has a good year at the Duc I think they would transfer him to the factory team, if Garcia isn't available and Lorenzo don't perform like he is paid. But definitely this season and eye on ......., Zarco and Nakagami too, pretty well for a rookie on the ...... Satellite Honda.

Zarco probably would, but I would rather see Zarco and MM as teammates at KTM on equal machinery. The front row starts would be insane.

That's exactly Ducati's plan. From what Ciabatti has been saying I think they are just looking for a comfortable B-plan for 2019 in case Lorenzo doesn't deliver what they expect. Rumor has it Miller will have a great treatment in terms of bike parts in order to be in the position to show his real potential on the bike.

The real question mark is Zarco. If he performs well I seriously doubt he'll be in Tech3 next year. I really wouldn't mind seeing him in HRC :)
