Valentino will always be the Lance Armstrong of motogp to me.

Oh you HAD to bring that up, didn't you???

You'll start a war with Texas now...

Yup, definitely the cancer of motogp.

Text edited for the politically correct ones out there.

Oh no he didn't.....

Sorry, you are right. I abbreviated its parentage

The code in the ECU is the same core code as is in the M-series cars and to a lesser extent, in the rest of the 4-wheel range. Obviously the sensors are different in number and range and the bike ECU has to contend with a few things that vehicles with four wheels need not bother with - like the front wheel being in the air, falling over, that sort of thing. To sensor chassis attitude they use electronic gyroscopes - essential in working out traction control when a bike is leaning over on a cambered corner.

All the cool stuff on the S1000RR like traction control and anti-wheelie was developed over years of gradual improvements in the car ECU code. The road versions mostly use the Bosch Motronic ECM with the Motorola MPC5xx series PowerPC processor - usually packaged as the Bosch EDCx, MEx or Siemens MSx series.

The WSBK ECU is a development unit allowing complete control over its programming and function, unlike the EDC road-going versions which are bloody hard to reprogram. It has more sensors and the processor runs at 66MHz, not 50MHz in the road version.

Before I started engineering things out of wood, I was an engineer specialising in CPUs - most notably the late 90's Intel Xeon and the Motorola PowerPC chip for car makers - like VAG/Skoda, etc. I thought giving a complete family history of Bosch Motronic's Motorola custom silicon and BMW ECUs was probably going to be a yawn, but if you want, I could go on for hours

I don't miss it in the least...

If you want your Audi/Golf/M5/Octavia remapped, I am probably not the one you are looking for. I have a BMW 4-cyl roadbike and apart from a seat and screen upgrade, it is bone stock. I thought about it, but all those screws and wires gave me the willies

Just not worth it...

Its the internet. On here we are all engineer astronaut ....stars who work part time as firemen, have a supermodel girlfriend and are extremely wealthy. We all predicted the collapse of the soviet union and the GFC. Every one of us is 7 foot tall and fights like Roy Jones jnr. A short ..... on the internet is 9 inches. Here it is 12.

We can fight and .... and make no mistake, we are all "nearly" motorcycle champions in various classes.

I believe that 78% of us hold multiple PHd's and that only 63% of made up facts and statistics are correct.

Unless prequalified like Jum has (100% of his are correct when arguing with you/me etc).

I can also play the ukulele.

I don't normally advocate drug use but seriously zoot, have a joint and chill.

Don't know about any body else, but I am a firefighter. No shame there, no lessons to be spoken

I come for entertainment not to preach

Mulling this over for a few days brings me to a startling conclusion. Whether this decision was reached through Ezzy's ministrations or Bridgepoint's balance book is unclear BUT the fact that Ezzy/Dorna is the big winner here is crystal clear. Control of both series not only allows Ezzy/Dorna to leverage factories and teams it allows them leverage over the riders as well. Was Casey thinking about coming back in a couple of years to enjoy a pleasant retirement ride away from the motogp circus in the relative camaraderie of the WSBK paddock? Thinks again bucktoothed-fisherman-daddy, uncle Ezzy's stench may well spread tp your perceived greener pasture, or dread of dreads, he may just say no WSBK contract for you Mr Adrianne, MGP or naught. It seems to me the king hath become emporor, his minions to control our beloved sport for, soon shall we see, better or worse.

Yep, I had this thought as well, Ezy will have enough power to veto riders, and sounds like he is in lockstep with the FIM so no rebel series which was not going to happen anyway. I imagine rider salaries will come down to a major degree as well. I am not convinced ezy gp/wsbk will be all that much better than nothing.

I'm having this Game of Thrones nightmare in which Dani wins every remaining race, but Jorge takes the title by a handful of points. Miraculously (Ezzy) Dani wins the first 4-5 races of 2013... And the perfect, fairytale, WWF, soap opera, MotoEZZY storyline develops: the current prince and the returning, shamed-yet-champion knight valiantly battle the combined evil forces of of the House of Honda, their evil dwarf knight Sir Pedrobot, and their satanic warlock The Puig. Maybe Ezzy knows viewers like to rally against an evil force as much or more than to cheer for a loveable jester... Ezzy himself is the eternal eunuch seeing all and discretely applying his subtle sliminess in all ends of the realm.

LOL!

I think the sum total of what I said of 'what I used to do' was to work for Intel and Motorola... now I make things from wood.

At the time I wrote it, I thought it was funny - obviously not. I fully expected some anal retentive tosser to tell me I had my part numbers out by 1 or something.

No need for me to take a chill pill, Jumkie is obviously still all ...-hurt about something, he's the one with a problem you need to be advising... Me, I don't carry a grudge - life (and my memory) is too short.

Some days it's barely worth chumming the waters...

Please don't. It's generally not nice work, although did a "fun" vertical rescue the other day. Hanglider fudged launch and slams into cliff face 20 meters below launch area.
