BMW R90 - 40th Anniversary edition

Oooh.....I do love it.   Especially if they bring back the that orange smoke paint job.   Wish Guzzi would do something as well.

Oh, R.Sands did it....well at least it can go around corners...

Said, by many, to be motorcycle .... ........

just looks so "gumby" to me, like a sort of "takin the micky" type joke..

Actually I did see a 650 enduro that looked acceptable the other day ...... the first BM I have actually thought looked like it may work.

I did have an F650 Funduro fo a bit, but I'm not a BMW fan. My brother had an R80gs for a while and the only thing it had over the Transalp was the shaft drive. The Africa Twin mad it look like a museum piece when they were both for sale! The new 1150/1200gs models have too many inherent faults for my liking. A mate just sold his coz it was coming to the end of it's warranty, and the repair bills he had been covered for under the warranty were scary. Gimme a new Super Tenere any day!

I once came across a GS broken down in the middle of the desert.  These two guys had installed "the most aggressive knobbies I could find".   The problem was they packed like crazy with clay and wore a hole through the drive shaft cover/swing arm.  Than after inspecting to other's GS his was about to suffer the same result.  Yet my DRZ's chain was mostly spotless cause the swing arm was swiping the clay away and it remained unaffected.

One of the few times a chain won out....changing a flat on the other hand!!!

The Super Tenere is a joke.

I set up one for a rally a few years ago and to be honest I never understood it ( even though it was better than any BMW ) .......... after the rally the rider realized the error of his ways also and next year he got a KTM990R ......... just perfect for the job. He said in the same desert he never dropped the bike once so he couldn't really say how much easier than the Tenere it was to pick up

This years rally we "safari-ized a Husaberg 570 and it was described as so much easier than any of the larger bikes, though they were warned that this years rally was on a far tighter course, he said he could have done it on the 990 but on the Tenere it would have been a joke.

Bam!! thats the first real problem with many "adventure bikes" shaft drive, you can't easily change the final ratio ........ even on my road bikes  adjust this ..... wtf would be the use of a fixed shaft drive!!??
