fastest way to hospital. buddy of mine has a bored out rs250, dont know the exact capacity but its over 300ccm and fully tuned.that bike is a beast

edit: post was in reference to the rd 350

concerning superbikes as first bikes. the bike has abs which is a very good thing. try to mature and not hit the gas at any time possible, if i was you i would limit myself to a maximum of 6000rpms for at least the first year.that way you'll be fine.the only problem with the bmw for beginners is its massive power. it handles beautifully, the brakes are class (unlike the 1098 which will kill you if you're not a pro)

just keep this in mind:

traction control will not slow you down when you heading towards a tree at 200kmh, and trust me you'll be traveling at that speed off line much faster than you think

I drive it on rain mode for now... to be honest I am not that much into wheelies and showing off so I take it really easy. Why are most people here so damn pessimistic? I know the thing is amazingly fast and for that reason I respect it. Every once in a while I let it scream on an empty high way that I know is smooth, but that's all.

I drove quite some diferent bikes of friends including ducati monster, GSX r, an R6, a kwasaki 1200. All super fast bikes, but I just prefer my sweet bempy!

Why are most people here so damn pessimistic?

because i for example am in my twenties and i already know way too many guys who killed themselves or got badly hurt on fast bikes.

good for you if you take it easy, thats the way it should be

with great horsepower comes great responsibility

take care

I've ridden a .... load, but never owned a sports bike, not my idea of what you need on the roads. I want all day comfort, pillion comfort and a wee bit of off road ability.

I love sports bikes in principle, but I ken full well, I'd ride it like a ....!

.... typing fck.

So is this the first bike you've owned?

Buying a bike based on magazine articles/reviews/tests is like picking your wife outta a mail order catalogue... Your choice of the 1000rr without yet having a full license is wrought with folly.

I disagree. If the ..... looks tight, the ..... looks tight. I take it u've never ordered up an escort from a catalogue.

On a related note, i've bought plenty of bikes based on first that it caught my eye, either on mag or in showroom. I've also purchased bikes sight unseen and had them shipped to my doorstep. If u do ur homework, u should be happy.

How many new bikes have u bought where the dealer lets u test ride? Not many. Just like ....., u gotta check it out, look at the glossy, and then buy the ticket and take the ride.

If I was only gonna have the ..... or bike for one day/night I'd agree but I tend towards more long-term relationships with bikes and women!

Never bought a new bike in its first year of production, and never will, so I do a lot of research, then find someone who has the bike and get their opinion, then beg-borrow-or steal one for a weekend or more, then buy a used one. Yes I've bought bikes sight unseen but only after the other steps!

I know, you can call me pedantic!

Can you imagine Rossi kicking Lorenzo's ... on a Beemer?
<

Have you been on the crack pipe?? firstly how long has it taken bmw and some of the best sb riders in the world to get that bike to work? its won one race.

It would take years to build and develop a moto gp winner and rossi would be long gone,i dont think you will see bmw in mgp ever.

Two actually! I think Collie's Suter/BMW is a harbinger of BMW engines in CRT bikes... He's doing very well despite injuries against the much larger ART effort.

the most important thing is that a bike is fun to ride. and that is so subjective. for me the best bike ever would have to be an rs250.

Yep, RS250 is a heck of a ride... uncomfortable as a nun's elbow, but man they move! Hang on - not competitive???

You mean the Honda, not the Aprilia, right? If you did mean the Aprilia, those things can rip the .... of any four stroke 600 as well...

RD 350 LC
<

Before you posted that, my next post was going to be RZ350YPVS
<
Still my all-time favourite bike. Comfortable, fast, reliable, tuneable, commute during the week, race it on the weekend
<

The LCs were great, but I had a ton of tuned RD400s at the time - it wasn't till the RZ arrived that I made the move to waterbottle

...luckily there´s Internet and a lot of experts out there that may know even more than you about the latests suprspor bikes.

You have confused me for someone that put himself forward as an expert.

I may be influenced by the affect I own a S1000RR

No ....?

but check out all the serious motorcycle authorities. You can argue with me, sure you have more experience than me, but the fact remains that all experts say the same. Panigale is a superb bike but S1000RR is better! on the road, on the track, it's handling. only thing they might like more are the electronics, ok maybe that, but taht's the only thing. S1000RR kicks Ducati's ... dude, got to admit it.

I don't need to - I owned one - why would I read some blokes write-up in a mag for something I had in the garage? To validate my judgement?

It was a good bike - pity the build quality was so ...... But it wasn't what you said it was - the best bike in the world. And it isn't better than the Panigale. It isn't even better than the RSVR Factory, let alone the RSV4.

As you said, you have little experience.

Arguing with people based on a magazine article is great - now go and ride some bikes.

<
My RZ's sitting in a barn in Canada... I'll get to see her in a few days though
<
TZ250 front end, ........... shock, wicked custom chamber, lightweight bodywork, RZ500 rear wheel, steering damper, multiple sprocket and gearsets
<
Motor's in a box all blowed up
<

You're right, I know. For all the other prics hating on my fast beauty. Eat this: http://www.youtube.c...&feature=relmfu

You are so black and white on this, aren't you?

"Its the best bike" "you are haters"

FFS man, for someone in their thirties, you need to do some growing up.

Nobody 'hated' on your choice - you are the one throwing down the gauntlet stating that Ducati are ..... and BMW are THE BEST!

Chill the .... out.

As to it being hte best - the best is not necessarily the bike that gets the best quarter-mile time, the best lap time or can pull the most g's... it also has a lot to do with affordability, reliability, safety, application to purpose, maintenance, tyre wear, etc.

Where I live the Beemer doesn't have a hope in hell of being the best at anything - that is reserved for the KTM 690.

.... my TZM150 would be a match for the beemer on the sandy beach roads and headland switchbacks (50 - 100m straights and 180s) of Phuket!

Thats up to him to learn... I do appreciate the enthusiasm but on the road there is no "the best" just what suits you and the conditions!

I never ...... Adele, nor did I .... Angelina Jolie, but I am a 100% sure I prefer Angelina Jolie. The same goes for the Ducati and the Beemer, of course I am black and white, I am talking about what I like what is best for me! ... and the S1000 is!

I don't need to - I owned one - why would I read some blokes write-up in a mag for something I had in the garage? To validate my judgement?

Now you understand me, the same goes for me, that is exactly the case for me. My judgement is I prefer the S1000 no matter what you guys think about the bike... And if all the other motor fans (besides you) say it rides / handles better, it is faster and drives better on the road than the Panegale, - than for me that is a conformation not the reason that I bought it. Sure you had all bikes, but the supersport bike that I drove, this one rides best.

Guess most of you guys are Ducati fans or just trying to be a pain the ...... but than we have to agree to disagree on this.

peace

sorry man but no way in hell a 70-80 horsepower ape will show a r6 with a good rider on it its tail.

at least 40 hp difference even if you tune the ape make a big difference .you know even on a twisty circuit there are straights connecting the corners
<
the problem with the aprilia is that in slow turns you really need to use the clutch to keep the revs up and quite frankly i'm not good enough for such techniques.i'm happy when i hit a breaking point more or less at the right time and i get my knee down
<
sad thing i probably won't get to ride 2 strokes when i'll be better, i hardly ever see one these days.125s at best

edit : i know there is the possibility on a really twisty circuit (we're talking racing right? on the street anything thats capable of 130kmh is enough, handling is king there) that a pro rider can take advantage of having no engine brake and whatever.but for me the 2 stroke although it is more fun is much much harder to be fast on, much more gear changes and the lack of engine braking means i run wide in every corner.maybe i'm not good enough on the rear brake and can't coordinate all things at the same time but i can't imagine normal track riders to be faster on a 250 than on a 600

I on the other hand see bikes as women. Fun.... for a while.
