siebenbürgen süße heimat!
hey guys,

we had a thread about what was the best looking bike, why not about what is the best sounding?

maybe some of you guys know where you can get good audio only recordings of the bikes, its hard to find those.

my top 5 would be : duc gp06, the gp07-09 (it that won't kill your ears, i don't know what will), the 1000cc m1, wsbk ducatis and the nsr500 for nostalgia reasons

forgot about the ninja screamer, shame i never got to hear one of those live at trackside!

The TZ was Satan's preferred dirt tracker. Look up cacophony in the dictionary and there's pictures of the Cube and TZ.

i'd have to look up cacophony anyways to know what it means
<

seems like nobody likes the inline 4s very much?

never had the pleasure to hear an original m1 trackside, but i thought the suter bmw and pirros ftr honda sounded like dangerous weapons

Hahaha, the best way I've ever heard somebody describe the TZ was this way. Imagine 6 industrial grade chainsaws pointed at your face. Now imagine riding that thing?

never got to hear one live unfortunately

...but the duc's sound loud and mean as hell on tv

I love the sound of an in line 4 screamer before al this cross plane crank/twin pulse nonsense ruined the show. The Muzzy Kawasakis were always 'rasping'.

The First incarnation of the M1 which made a cameo appearance at Catalunya in 2001 (as a side show to the 'big fight'). For some inexplicable reason that I have never understood, just after the 250 race, Katsuaki Fujiwara (remember him?) rumbled out of pit lane and proceeded to peel off several demonstration laps before vanishing back into a pit lane garage whereupon the shutter promptly came down behind him. The entire thing was bizarre...when Honda unveiled the RC211v the same year at least they got Spencer and Doohan to ride a couple of demonstration laps at Motegi instead of an also ran supersport rider contracted to Suzuki on the pay roll of Francis Batta. Perhaps he wasn't contracted to Suzuki just to Alstare, because I'm sure he had a hand in testing the thing along with 'Lil John. Biaggi must have had his head in his hands - exactly what he needed, a test rider as mad as a box of frogs. In the process Kocsinski fell off and broke his arm as I recall. (Perhaps he was distracted by a large halibut floundering in the racing line eh Pete?).

I digress (for once) - I remember thinking at the time that it sounded quite tasty and when Max and Checa debuted the thing at Suzuka the following season - on the over run they sounded like a pair of gatling guns - Glorious.

When I saw the thread title, my immediate thought was Hailwoods six and the Cube. Stiefel and L8 beat me to it. Both clips have been posted on here before and it's great to see them again. As has the Ant West clip (I assume that's the same one - I haven't looked at it yet).

Speaking of triples, the Benelli Tornado ridden by Peter Goddard in World Supers sounded quite tasty.

heheh bad sounding more or less

in gp, the inlines(yamaha-kawa) are somewhat more quiet than the v engines of the rest of the field.... due to the big bang configuration. the vid of the zx above, (i think they never used it in a race) is how it would sound normally. not so good to race, but definetely the best sound......

i have to admit when i was at the superbike round last year i always looked forward to hear the r1 and the aprilia much more than the kawa, bmw and suzuki.

so its cross plane > screamer for me.its just easier on the ears
