Oh I have my reasons for disliking him and it's nothing to do with how he rides etc.

what a HORRIBLE avy you have

^ well he's qualified in 11th for todays 250 race, and if it is raining as forecast, he should do well.

I hope he will build on last weekend and bring that form to the 250s and 11th on grid is not bad for him lets hope for a top 5 finish.

Have to say, i was very dissapointed with Ant's interview post race, just that he'd do it again after last year, not good at all.. Lets hope he just gets his head down for the rest of this year then moves on to WSS or WSBK in 2008..

Not good as a fan to hear him so dejected again.. Sucks! It was VERY annoying to see Simoncelli and Kallio etc just blasting past him on the straights only for him to catch them in the corners. That would have to take its toll, especially after being on the podium last week in WSS.

You can understand his mood to some extent, i just dont think he should be interviewed post race, no other riders that finish in his position are, theyd be saying similar things im sure..

Shame indeed..

To be fair, Simoncelli has a very similar spec bike to West, and the difference on the straights was not that great. Marco rode very well today but usually dissapoints and West should be aiming to beat him. Ant had a pretty good start to the race but after the works boys settled down and Bautista started to correct his error WEst slipped back to a position not much different from usual.

I just wish some one would see the talent that West has and give him a real bike. There is no Aussie's in 125s and it will be a real shame to lose our only 250 rider.

I think West is overated as he is only just good enough for world supersport, he is on a disadvanteged bike in the 250's but so is someone like simoncelli who out performs him every race (before he crashes) so he's not impressing in the 250's. This really gives me doudts about his potential to actually make it anywhere further than a privateer 250 ride.

I don't feel he is "overrated" because i think he has a bike which reflects his performance, he is where i think he deserves to be. The frustrating thing is that he isn't making progress or getting much better, and also that he is so damn fast in the rain. When i see him do what he did this weekend you realize he is a talented guy, but it goes to show that he is underachieving every time he gets on a bike. I think he should consider a career in the superbike paddock and hope he has enough success to find his way back into gp in the future.

Spot on, you dont develop a winning culture and confidence by riding around midfield on a underpowered bike with a privateer team. He needs to spend 08 in WSS with either Ten Kate or Yamaha (top teams with top bikes) or even WSBK Ten Kate and just win, pure and simple. From there he can impress the big bosses again and start to throw his name into the ring for GP participation (ala Toseland, Sofuoglu) especially when the GP bike numbers appear to be increasing in the near future (new satellite teams etc.)

So - now we get to see who is right!

Over half a season on a factory bike capable of top finishes.

Perhaps this thread should be moved to the motogp part of the forum to let the predicting commence.....

Mine: Wet race comes he'll be on the podium. Otherwise he won't be making it.

I think the doubters will be proved wrong if he looks like a regular top 10 possibility. If he never gets up there - then the doubts will have it!

Care to explain?

Then again, you hate De Puniet and most other riders.

Pretty fast in the wet, but he always is.

I want to see how slow/fast he is in the dry...seeing as he's a midfield 250 rider at best.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pirkkalan GP @ Jun 23 2007, 08:08 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>He is seriously boring and grumpy when he is interviewed. Maybe that's why she dislikes him...

Well, he was very nice at Day Of Champions... seemed to be more happy than Dani Pedrosa who she absolutely loves...

even though Dani was quite happy on stage, talking to Paul Dennin.

For sure its a tad dissapointing that Ants down the lower end of the sheets in the dry, but realistically this has been the WORST possible weekend for Ant. Rain on day one then complete dry for day two. That would mean he had to learn the track in the dry on the new bike (second time riding in the dry) and re-do the entire setup on a completely foreign machine. Honestly, its about what i expected..

I think this sums it up pretty well though:-

West Crew Chief

“Yesterday we found a good wet set up but today we had to start again in the dry and it’s very difficult to jump on a bike for the first time and then experience such differing conditions. Anthony did very well indeed: it’s the first time he’s used a qualifying tyre and that isn’t easy. Our target is for him to finish the race and he was very consistent on race tyres. We will keep taking it step by step and I think he’s going to improve quickly. We just need a little time.”

He'll only get better and he always races better than he qualifies... Gooo Ant..

"Wee-a want eem to gain a-pleasuure from rideeng this-a machine."
- Direct quote from Michael Bartholemly (spelling?) on his expectations of Ant.
