I think Ant's race this w.e @ Monza says ALOT about his talent and riding ability.. To be able to adapt to a COMPLETELY foreign bike, track and set of opponents and claim a podium is a phenomenal effort and surely shuts alot of his doubters up.. I think it shows what hes capable of given the right machinery... Hats off to the man, lets hope he can progress in his 250 season from here on in.. .. People gonna argue with that?

He has done what i think he should have done/needed to do. Solid result, but my opinion of him remains.

Yeah, it shows how shallow the SuperSport field is, get beaten by a guy who's never been there AND he's on a factory bike too!

See above, bar Sofuoglu, the SS field is .... this season.

I think I just did.

Yes, but your just arguing for the sake of it you stirrer.. You even congratulated him in the WSBK thread.. As much as people will refuse to admit it, he shut alot of people up today..

antfan when west learns to keep his mouth shut when his team are having troubles, then maybe he'll be able to secure another competitive ride 1 day. he had his chance with ktm & blew it!

This thread is hilarious! When I watched the race on Sunday, I knew
Antfan would get on here singing the praises of West. Haha, I love it. But I must admit, I was impressed. Yeah, maybe the field isn't that deep but this was the first time on this track and bike in a race for him. Also he scrapped with the top runners and that was exciting to watch. I'm not ready to look into it too much though. I'm not sure what it says about West as much as it says more about the 250s and Supersports.

But West didn't back down and he fought for position and for that I respect him. Also his interview was pretty good (except for that horrid hair). It was nice to here him say he hoped for a speedy recovery for the man he's replacing and gave props to the team, not so much himself. He also admitted that he hasn't been getting the results he and others expect, and to admit that is refreshing.

Anyway, Antfan, this thread was predictable, but despite the .... he will get or is getting from Tom and Frosty, your boy did good.

Maybe WSS is where he belongs!

I agree with this.

He had a good race because he had the equipment he needed at his disposal! Give him Lorenzo, Bautista, Luthi or even Dovizioso's bike in the 250s and he would be podiuming regularly.

Although I agree with your point there, you can't tell other people not to when you said:

"What an arrogant prick .. Oh, its EASY to win in MotoGP and this bike is SO easy to ride, id love to see him have a go in a race and see him humiliate himself.. What a crock.. He needs to just realise he's never going to have a competetive ride again.. If Bayliss struggled in GP then Hodgson has ABSOLUTELY zero chance of any success.. Go with Toseland, at least he has some time to improve.. Neills a lost cause"

Don't slander Hodge's name!

The fact that you believe that amuses me, there may be a big difference between the factory and non factory bikes, but those guys have earned them. You can believe West is better than he has been performing for the last few years of his career, that just optimistic but try to keep it real, he is nowhere near as good as those four factory guys and world champions.

Your ignorance amuses me Tom, your stance that the 'best riders' in the world are the ones that have the best bikes at their disposal is ridiculous.

Politics are RIFE in MotoGP and the riders that the powers at be want to win are the riders that end up winning. Why do you think Jorge has a team dedicated to himself, with two factory bikes at his disposal. Why is he constantly faster than the rest of the field by such a large margin? Dont say its because hes 'by far' the best rider out there, its because he has 'by far' the best ride between his thighs..

Ant got several podiums in 2003 on a privateer bike in the dry, risking his life by riding to the ABSOLUTE limit, how was he rewarded? With a POS KTM 'factory' ride that ruined his reputation and nearly severely injured him on several occasions due to its underdeveloped and primative state. He deserves a real shot, and thats the truth.

Ohhh..

I thought West only got the KTM wildcard for a wet Donny race, where he almost won.

How long did he ride for?

He was supposed to ride it for the ENTIRE 2005 season! He debuted it @ Donny after several delays, then had, i think two or three other races after that before KTM pulled the plug on it because they didnt want to do the flyaway rounds in Sepang, Australia etc. This, along with Ant speaking out after the engine seized on him on 'more' than one occasion, at over 200kph and spat him off like a rag doll meant Ant and KTM parted ways, leaving him back at square one.

Fck.

It's nice to see you're such a dedicated fan, not like the gloryhunters you see around so often these days. It's not a dig at anyone on the forums but it is true.

I've been reading about him online (wikipedia), he appears to only have done the Qatar GP, surely that's wrong?

All of the riders in your little list started out life on .... bikes in small teams trying to prove themselves as any rider does. All of them caught the attention of the factory teams and have worked their way into a position where they can really exercise their abilities. And you can get over pretending Lorenzo has a bike with a bigger engine than anyone else, there are about 6 factory Aprilias out there.

Ant got a shot with a Factory team and blew it, get over it.

Yes, they are rife with politics. Agree.

Also, .... KTM. They have no commitment or word. They sank Team KR the same way because they have no backbone nor integrity.

Oh I have my reasons for disliking him and it's nothing to do with how he rides etc.
