hot of the press people! barros is back in GP's next year!!

The Team PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP has reached an agreement with ALEX BARROS to take part in the 2007 MotoGP World Championship.
Next season, when the 800cc bikes will take the place of the 990cc powered machines in the premier-class, the fast Brazilian rider will have at his disposal the new DUCATI DESMOSEDICI GP7 that already showed to have a good potential during the first tests.

ALEX BARROS: “I’m very happy to come back and race in the premier-class with the Team PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP. The new DUCATI DESMOSEDICI GP7 800cc already seems a very good project. I’m really confident, I know the Team and I’m sure that we will make a good job together. I can’t wait to be back to compete for the first positions with a MotoGP bike”.

LUIS D’ANTIN (Team Manager): “We’re very happy to welcome in our Team a rider with such a big valour as ALEX BARROS. His arrival makes us really confident for the next season. BARROS is a rider that has a big experience and I’m sure that he will give us a lot of good performances. The objective of the PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP will be to compete at high level during the whole season, constantly aiming for the podium”.

PAOLO CAMPINOTI (CEO PRAMAC Group): “I’m enthusiastic to go on with the adventure in the MotoGP premier-class with a winning rider as ALEX BARROS.
His experience will allow our team to reach the results that we deserve. The PRAMAC Group believes a lot in the racing project and will keep on following it with the biggest commitment. For the 2007 season we will soon announce important news”.

Good move for Barros, good to see him back. Checa showed that some of the older guys can still mix it. I'm very happy to hear this.

are they on 'lops or ridge next year? could be good.. i like Barros! althoughi would have liked Haslam to get that ride..

they'll be running the same bikes and tyres as Capi and Stoner...
not 1 or 2 year old bikes on Duncraps...he should do well.

A welcome back, but I wished he would stick around in WSB as he has more of a chance landing a title there.

That's the thing, Barros and whoever else ends up in the Pramac squad will have the same kit as Loris and Stoner, in the early stages of the season at least. Alex always did well in a sattelite team. Checa on the LCR and Barros on the Duke, all we need is OJ on a kwak and a few wet races.

it's for that reason i hoped Ellison might get another year out of Tech3 so at least he could prove himself on the same bike as everyone else ?

anyone know where he's going ?

Meanwhile Hofmann is going "..... Now I gotta play second fiddle again."

D'antin might not have a good history, but with decent tyres, real money and Alex Barros, they could be set for their best year yet.
Cardoso deserved the boot. Not just because he's a rock either. Remember that race where he retired because he was pissed off because his bike was so slow and he didn't feel like finishing?

No idea.......last I heard he had a mystery personal sponsor who was gonna dish out half a mill towards his ride

Not heard squat

One year in GP's with a sattelite team and no great expectations and no pressure would have been a much smarter move. Staying in WSB will have more of an adverse affect on JT's future GP prospects.

Ellison is rumored to be going to WSBK to take over Norick Abe's seat in the second string Yamaha team.

What do you all think of putting him on an Ilmor?
British rider, gets money from Dorna, bla bla.
I don't think it will be a great move for development but could bring SOME money in.

Hector, Ellison hasn't got what it takes. He did try his heart out on the WCM, so much so that he impressed WCM boss Peter Clifford enough for him to bring Ellison with him to tech3 but this year, Checa made Ellison look out of his depth. I know Ellison didn't have ideal machinery but was Checa's really that much better? There are other more promising british riders out there. I can't see Ilmor signing a Rookie either, it's hard to develop a bike when you've never ridden anything remotely similar, and have never ridden most of the circuits.
Haslam? Leon rode in GP's before albeit on the hopeless Shell Advance 500 v-twin, but he picked up a point or two and he was very young, only 17 I think. The advantage Leon would have for me is that he's just so naturally talented, always able to push very hard even if the bike is not 100% and a he's a great scrapper, never gives up. He's a tough kid and is really busting a gut to get in to GP's on a half decent bike. He gets my vote as the guy who could develop into a solid GP rider.
Toseland? He could have had a very easy season in GP's next year, everybody so busy with developing the new bikes while all he'd have to do would be learn the tracks and get used to the big class. I'm amazed he knocked it back, a sattelite GP7 could be a great bike to be on.
