SouperPoll :: Will You Tune In To 'Tona?

Yes, I am eager to devour any and all media products that feature Daytona 200 content.

No, I will instead be washing my hair that night.

Yes, I am looking forward to watching Ben Bostrom, Blake Young and John Hopkins battle it out on 1000s in the '200. Oh, wait ...

Ummmm. When does the MotoGP season start again?

Actually, what I'd be interested in seeing is something like this: a Daytona activity where fans use socks filled with semi-fresh cow manure to flog AMA President Rob Dingman and several ex-DMG employees.

My pick was "Yes, I am looking forward to watching Ben Bostrom, Blake Young and John Hopkins battle it out on 1000s in the '200. Oh, wait ...", because I'm a sarcastic SOB and I think that the starting point for returning the 200 back to some form of relevance/greatness would be to run with the 1000s.

i'm gonna be watching of course..... i watch all bike racing always have & always will.... but i'm gonna be most interested in the sat sx. is the superbike grid gonna be full or the 200 for that matter?

You will become more interested once I start posting pics buddy.

Riders I will be rooting for:

Tommy Hayden
John Hopkins (welcome back Pete)
Jake Zemke
Blake Young
Ben Bostrom
Fernando Amantini (may be in his pit)

(BTW, Cali Kid, lucky as always, had Kim Kardashian on his flight.)

Really? I'm guessing that she was flying business class. I'm sure that behind won't fit in a coach seat.

You put Hopper and no Josh Herrin?

You forgot to add Trey Canard, your new favorite rider.

I shall watch if I can find a decent channel, not seen Daytona races since the 70`s in truth.

I agree that AMA road racing is in a sad state right now, but what an idiotic poll. Does 'Soup care at all about journalistic integrity?

Also, rumors of a real return of superbikes to the '200 are being reported. This is great; however, what will be done about the tire problem? Will running the single-banking configuration solve the problem? Will there be mandatory pit windows? (I hope not)

If the rest of the season can just stay this way!

I'm assuming Yamaha had serious tire issues b/c Chris Clark was the first Yamaha finisher and he was barely on the lead lap. Gutted to see Hopper and David Anthony had mechanical issues. I also hope Knapp can find his way to the front pack b/c he's got good enough equipment to win.

I hope the 200 is a barnstormer. Last year wasn't too shabby.

Elena Myers finishes 7th in supersport? That's impressive.

No. Dean is basically being paid by Honda to rain on DMG's parade. It was redundant all of last year, and now that DMG are trying to get it together, Adams is basically the fly in the ointment. His newest kick is alleging that DMG screwed with the final times to make the SBK race look closer than it actually was. I'm not one to ever get mad at someone for alleging conspiracy, but when your business relies on your credibility, perhaps you should leave it alone. Besides, they had a timing issue last year as well, when the official timing showed that Hayden held off Hodgson at the line. He didn't so race direction had to correct the official timing.

In his defense, Adams is pretty much a hater. Most of the stuff that is happening now is just de ja vu from another era or another series (i.e. WSBK 2004). He's been a consistent AMA basher pretty much anytime they make sweeping changes. At one point in 2004 the superbike grid was officially 6 people. He wasn't quite so happy to uncover failure, but he slammed the people involved.

If the AMA can hold it together for a couple more seasons, I really think the future looks bright if the economy can improve a bit. I hope Dean Adams is on the right side of the tracks b/c his site produces good media, it's just the op-ed stuff that sucks.

I dont know for sure, but i beleive by watching live timing,it appeared that Hayes and Bostrom either wrecked or ran off the track. They were down early in the race and actually came back to finish where they finished.

I read that. It will be interesting to watch the races Saturday to see how it really was.

Anyone have an idea when and where the SBK races will be televised.
The 200 will be on tonight at 9.00pm on speed and it is listed in the Directv guide as Daytona Bike Week
