OK - Hopefully Alzheimers won't cause me to double post this again. Tho - I can't promise not to be swayed by Dementia.

Oxley: How Suzuki Raised Its Top Speed

Good article, except the part where he claims MotoGP bikes are making 19,000rpm and 30m/s mean piston velocity. Those numbers are optimistic to put it mildly. Anyway, still a good exposition, even if the top speed numbers are less important in Europe. Could come in handy at Mugello though.

Only relevant info that I've seen related to Portimao:

Moto2 race will follow the MotoGP race, which means there will be higher grip level (theoretically)

Frankie needs to step up his game.

There doesn’t appear to be much game to step up there frankly.

I think he is overrated. Some guys come up to the big bikes and do well, FM is not in that league.

As for Dovi, he was washed up after Ducati. It’s a wonder he got signed by a major team. He must have a good negotiating team.

Yeah I know he beat Marquez a few times. But never when it counted.

There is no doubt about it, Yamaha is in trouble. It seems they finally got some sponsorship, which supposedly means they have money to spend.

So, where to point the finger at the lack of performance?

Well, he was runner-up in 2020 on the A-spec bike. I had higher hopes for him this year.

I think FM was just lucky in 2020 regarding the classification. Sure he had some reasonable results. Wasn’t Mir the champion that year? Winning just one race. There is somebody else who is overrated. It ain’t 2020 and I don’t think either of those guys have a chance this year.

Interesting comments on crash from both Dovi and Miller on grip, power and the fact that certain riders are faster using different techniques with the same bike.

All stuff we can’t see on the screen.

I’m reminded that Quartararo concluded that the Yamaha needed to ridden as Lorenzo rode it and that he made it his business to learn how to do that. Looks like that’s still the way and that Dovi and Frankie haven’t been able to do it.

I'll never know to this day what prompted Yamaha to think it was a good idea to give Dovi, a 36yr old who's done virtually nothing in MotoGP since 2009, a FACTORY contract......

Probably the same decision makers who thought it was a good idea to not improve the bike for this year.

It seems Lorenzo is of the opinion that Martin has already signed with factory Ducati but no announcement as yet. Hmmm.

I don't see them as having any other choice. He probably has a promotion clause and given how hard they worked to poach him from KTM they aren't going to lose him now.

Does Bestia have a contract with Ducati for next year? if not, he might be a juicy option for Honda/Yamaha (should they fail to sign Fabs).

I don't know. Lorenzo also said if Martin's deal hasn't been signed the door would still be open for Bestia.

Not as yet, looks like he was signed by Ducati in 2021 on a 2 yr contract, as there was an article some time ago about it needing to be modified to facilitate his move to Gresini.
