According to Mir and Quartararo next year we will have Ducati championship. What it is going to be. Factory team vs. Pramac? I think the other two are weaker.

Edit: Whoops, forgot the yellow team needs only 90 seconds to start winning on a Ducati. So make it three-team contention.

Although Ducati have made progress, that's end-of-season bullcrap as always. Riders moaning through extolling other bike trying to push his own team to improve. Others manufacturers are not dumb.

Mir said Ducatis do not lose speed any more in later stages of race. This used to be the strength of Suzuki.

Nowadays the tire wear depends directly on traction control. After all, TC can work only if there is a delta between real speed of bike and rear wheel. Which inevitably means tiny but detectable tire spin. And wear it causes. Ducati must have it in real sweet spot to get max acceleration with minimum spin. If there are any secrets in Magneti Marelli ECM they have found it.

There were seasons where Ducati was great in respect to conservation of tires, whereas in others seasons they don't. It's not that "always they lost speed in the final stages". Actually, in 2017 (where Dovi almost won) and 2018 this was their strength.

Ducati have made more progress not in TC, but in speed in the middle of corner so much so the riders don't need perfect grip to make the bike turn any more.

Surely the bike is very well balanced right now, attending many riding styles, but we always hear about "dominance" in the end or the start of a new season, but as the season progress there is no such a thing.

Yamaha will make progress as well as Honda and all the others.

.

I think that was more due to Dovi though. He had to slow the race right down so the tyres would last until the end. I don't remember him ever having a run away type win. I know Lorenzo did but he did struggle with tyres more often than he won as well.

It's true Dovi never ran away, but in my opinion because of Marquez that could follow him. There were many races where both of them were many many seconds ahead of the rest.

About Lorenzo I understand that as soon as Jorge tamed the D16, he ran away as always. No problem with tires despite crashing in the last races which masked brilliant performances. Unfortunately he managed to tame the bike too late in the season so we didn't have time to see him winning a lot more.

Any factory can do whatever they want with their bikes, invest money, do whatever ..... If Michellin set to change a tiny piece in the tire, all the work is lost and they will need to reset a big part of the project. The truth is that manufactures are building bikes around tires, and there is nothing more money draining than this.

Ridiculous rules.

I like aspects of the control tyres. IE no SNS, no special tyres made to suit one factory or rider above others (in theory), everyone gets the same tyres which levels the playing field somewhat. But then as you say, bikes are being built to suit tyres, any changes by Michelin can throw 6 months of work down the drain, the tyres can (and have been IMO) be made to create closer racing or help a struggling factory. While the vote on tyres is a democratic process only 2-3 options are given each year. Control tyres also kill the need for constant improvement and/or the supplier to consistently bring their best.

It's a catch 22. I think a best of both worlds can be achieved somehow though.

Mother Nature programmed herd instinct into human being. Part of it is blind following of a leader. This leader gets chosen pretty much the same way as a dog chooses master. Once chosen this leader is holy, outside of critics. Indeed, this varies, some have very strong need for a hero leader, some don't. This is how cults emerge. Simpler the mind - easier the drafting. Here we see a perfect example, a simpleton yellow cult member. Can't even post a web link ...
