This always seems to be the track/event fans are least excited about.

Yamaha's all looked pretty solid in FP2...and Zarco had a good run.

I think this race will favor the Yamaha's well. They have gone around here pretty well the past several years, so I think it'll be a question of which ones will be at or near the front. Rossi will be somewhere in the midfield per usual.

The weather always seems to be ...... there this time of year. I went there once for Moto GP in 2003 and it was mostly raining. Still worth it for one of the great high speed corners in racing. Bayliss described the experience well.

If it’s wet, Rins may be able to redeem himself, although time is passing him by. There will surely be some of the young guns who will turn out to be wet weather specialists. Perhaps we shall see who they are tomorrow.

Be interesting that's for sure.
The Ducati is normally really strong in the wet so I expect Pecco, Jack and Zarco to be up there. Not sure how the Yamaha boys will go in the wet. I wouldn't be surprised if Rossi gets his best result of the year though.

A wet race could be an advantage to Marquez who does have a good wet race record but more importantly the slower speeds and softer braking etc during a wet race *could* help his fitness or lack there of. On the flip side he might not be willing to risk it in the wet and cruise home to a top 10 instead.

One thing I love about wet races though is they often shake up the championship with championship leaders going down, 'also rans' getting excellent results etc.

Good on Jack. Silences a few naysayers, including myself. At least for now.
Good for Fabio too, he seems to be able to maintain his confidence now even with some adverse developments. Arm pump taken care of?
Zarco, a measured and careful ride. Seems like a great improvement in his approach.
So much for Marquez being careful.
Rins’ star on the way down with that under performance for a wet weather guy.
Mav?

Awesome season so far! Mugello coming up!

LOL - only 4 people moved to discuss this race. Like I said, this always seems to be the one nobody much cares about.

Great race from Jack obviously.
Fabio was impressive I thought. Hitting the 60km/h limit early and stopping at the wrong garage were probably the only mistakes he made.
Johann rode great as did Pecco.
So far in the season the Ducati's and Yamaha's look to be head and shoulders the two best packages on the track. I don't think Suzuki has lost ground, more that the others have improved slightly more and at the early stage in the season Mir's consistency is not 'holding down the fort' while the others haven't had much time to be inconsistent yet. I would have bet the house on Rins chucking it down the road.

I haven't read it in too much depth but it sounds like some of the riders are complaining about the front tyres being .... again? No surprise I guess.

Signs were positive IMO for Marquez, it's the first time he has shown real speed since his injury. He had an almost day. I wonder how much not having as much seat time as he usually would have had at this time in the year played a part in the two crashes? I think the crash has put him out of title contention. It's still a long season to play out though so who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes on a string of 5+ wins this season either.

Conditions looked pretty difficult out there and were constantly changing. Finishing was probably a victory in itself.

Finally caught the race after spending weekend interstate with family. Was so good to see my mother and siblings, nieces nephews again after so long. The race was strange, made me anxious watching. Jack obviously had speed, after the wet bike swap, but was never foregone, was hoping he didn't do a dry bike swap as it was drying, because he couldn't guarantee quartararo or zarco would follow, in hindsight, with a hometown win on cards, neither would have. Marc looked good for a bit, the softer race conditions definitely helped in that regard.

Miller has probably sealed next year's contract after last two races, a massive turnaround and much pressure off his back. Pecco still looking the most consistent, my favourite for the title. Rins, bins it again.

Apparently Ducati have signed him for 2022 after the 2 wins, perhaps why Zarco wasn’t happy despite finishing second.

I am liking this version of Jack despite pretty much giving up on him again after the first 3 rounds. I was nervous watching live, but I think he rode a measured race once he was in the lead after the bike swap, he didn’t let Zarco any nearer than 4 seconds despite the chatter of the commentators about different rain tyres, I think he was riding under control at the end of the race and not on the ragged edge.

Bagnaia is very impressive but his qualifying isn’t helping him.

Jacks progress is mighty interesting. An odd race considering the margin he won by despite all his hiccups and penalties. A well deserved win for him and a great result for Zarco. It's ironic that these two are doing so well on Ducatis!! :p If he continues to keep the pace over the full race distance, he is definitely in the hunt.

The Suzuki boys.... somehow I doubt that they'll show much this year.

M Marquez did well. To come out relatively Ok with all those spills must boost his confidence in an odd sort of way. It confirms that he isn't fragile and he can ride with confidence. His training outside of race weekends should be picking up now.

Good to see Fabio back.

Yes, was thinking the same, the fracture must be pretty well healed, he has subjected the arm to stresses rather more extreme than window opening..

I have thought all along he needs to take a Mick Doohan 1993 approach, maybe he will now, even he isn’t winning the title from here.

Painful to watch him go down, and hugely relieving to know he's walked away unscathed. Just hope he doesn't start thinking himself bullet proof again.

I just read that Joan Mir ran to the pits for a bike swap after crashing his Suzuki on slicks during the initial wet part of the race and was disqualified because to perform a bike swap in flag to flag, a rider must ride his bike back to the garage. Was missed in the telecast. A rule I was unaware of.

Rules are making racing less and less interesting. It’s crazy to me that racing is becoming so....”politically correct.”

Racing is “civilized warfare.” That’s why we watch it. One step up from watching gladiators in the colosseum.

Formula 1 is beyond comprehension and MotoGP is getting there. Exceeding track limits, pit lane speed limits, bike swaps need to be made with precise rules on riding, walking or running to and from bikes. Gimme a break. We watch racing to try and liberate ourselves from all that lawyering.

I don’t think there should be any pit lane speed limits. It’s a dangerous place. Get over it.

Whilst I believe that your point of view is shared with a great many fans (if not a majority) - it’s not consistent with the concept of progress, as in progress with a view to towards humans not slaughtering each other over a piece of meat. The idea of sportsmanship classically speaking was was viewed as a high concept; fair competition where participants win or lose on the merits of their individual capabilities. When the Greeks conceived of the Olympics they did so to created an arena where men could exhibit their natural competitive abilities in a civilized fashion that was more noble than the grotesque Circus Maximus cruelty the Romans were so fond of.
Rules are necessary for the furthering of the human race. Without them we devolve into savagery. Even lawyers are a necessity. Some people seem to believe the world would be a better place with rules and lawyers and police, but when your next door neighbor drops by to .... your children and run off with your wife and your car, you’re not going to want to hear your neighbor from across that street tell you, Hey life is dangerous, get over it.

Bottom line, life is not fair - in general. But as civilized humans we look to sporting events where concepts like fair-play and concern for the safety of others are the bedrock, to set an example for human behavior that is superior to that of the Huns and Visigoths.

For those allergic to rules there’s always MMA.

I think to compete at that level, or at least Marc's level, you unfortunately have to think of yourself as bulletproof because that's in my opinion the only way you're ever going to get the most out of the RC213V at this point. The bike only seems to reward pushing to the absolute limit.
