Quartararo is incredibly impressive particularly riding for a satellite team against the great MM. MM seems to have decided to refrain from losing any more last corner battles, but looked as though he needed to give everything he had to beat FQ.

Agree, Marc looked like he had to really work for that win at least compared to some of his others, it definitely wasn't a given.

It's a shame Quartararo Isn't getting a factory ride next year, it would be interesting to see just how much difference the latest spec Yamaha with the full factory support actually gives him.

I'm not sure of the rule and cost implications of Yamaha sporting a 3 bike factory team for 2020 but it would be worthwhile to ensure they retain him as a long term rider.

Doesn't have to sport the Yamaha colors to have FULL 100% factory support does it?

Why leave when set up is currently working? They have a filthy rich sponsor/owner, factory support, rider harmony and Wilco Zeelenberg running things.

I'd rather stay than join that toxic factory squad, with Lin Jarvis, a sourpuss team mate and a crew that can't set up a bike as well as a debut team despite being the ones who led development.

I don't know. He was stalking El Diablo and made a statement by devastating the kid on the last corner.

Damn.

Felt a bit gutted for Fabio but .... it, Marc deserves all this glory and more. Look at the other Hondas!!!!!

Btw, I don't hear any apologies towards Yamaha now that its clearly the pilots not being up to speed. There is nothing wrong with that bike, pretty sure its the best on the grid right now.

Flopsy & the other two complain of rear grip while Fabio had zero rear grip issues......

I hope Suzuki can find the cash & sign Fabio for 2021. Yamaha don't deserve a rider like him. After 2015, the way they treated Lorenzo. They yamaha deserve to have jarvis & rossi rot away in their garage for the Lorenzo treatment

They already bump his rpm up by 500, and have confirmed he is getting the same spec bike as the other 3 for next year. So more embarrassment for the T-shirt sales man. Or should I say another Lorenzo to steal setup data from. I wonder if the yellow nation is going to hate Fabio as much as they hate Marc.

MM sitting on Fab's tail the whole race long, was very calculated. Having MM on his back wheel the whole race long has to have an unnerving effect on him. Not slicing and dicing lap after lap saves everybody's tires, and limits risk for Marquez. You could definitely see the huge disappointment on Fabio's face in parc ferme. Getting beat by the best, is I imagine, cold comfort.

Everyone knew marc was gonna be champ this season. Tied rossi on 6 motogp titles. Dovi is pretty much set on 2nd. Wtf is lorenzo doing? And rossi? Dropped from 6th to 8th like nothing. Had to have made a mistake. And yama needs to get their .... together. Beaten by satellite yama again. Honda better drop lorenzo for jack miller. He can probably ride that bike like marc and yama better start working theri ..... of to get back on track for 2020 with a competitive bike. Ducati needs a killer instinct rider. Neither dovi or petrux have that.

Don't know that Yamaha need half so much a better bike as they need better riders. After all this time Rossi is past his best-sold-by-date and Vinales still hasn't figured out how to make a good start and gets swamped by less experienced riders.

As to Miller going to Honda; I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Look at how beat up and dejected all the other Honda riders are. Marquez makes the bike look good. Of course it might just be that Fabs is doing the same with the Yamaha. Personally I'm psyched that a first year rookie on a customer bike is dicing it out regularly with MM. Want to make a Stoner comparison but wouldn't want to jinx the frog.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is his bike was limited by 500 rpm in order to increase reliability because the team was only able to allocate 5 engines (as compared to 7 for other teams) for the season. And he's on #4 or #5, not sure which.

It was confirmed this weekend that Quartararo had the extra 500rpm available, which personally I find extremely surprising in terms of the factory team

What are the other differences on Quartararo’s bike apart from his motor? I though I heard his chassis was a different compares to the 19 bikes, closer to the 16 chassis of which I think the 19 bikes where developed from anyway. I could be wrong?

I agree that being in a team with Lin Jarvis and having Rossi as a team mate would be no advantage to his performance, probably a hinderance. But wouldn’t he have more influence on the development of the bike with the factory squad, having the bike and the new parts made more to his criteria than others? Hopefully Yamaha make this happen anyway regardless of what team he rides for.

As I recall - he's on the '17 chassis. Doubt other than the RPMs - there is a significant difference in engines.

The 8 time champion winning a last corner battle with a rookie on a satellite bike aint really nothin to write home about...

With little more race-craft (a-la Dovi or Rins) a seasoned rider, not gunning for their first GP win, may have let MM by with 7-8 laps to go to probe his weaknesses and let him bear the brunt of leading and conserve energy/tire/bike for the last lap battle to come...

:lol::lol::lol:

MM's bold statement: "An 8 time world champ can beat a rookie on a stalite bike who has never won a race"... whoo-hoo!!

Regularly? Really?

Common folks. FQ has been a revelation but he has NOT been "regularly" dicing it out. He has had mechanical issues, he has had inconsistencies, he has shown great POTENTIAL, he has ridden the stalite bike as well as Zarco... oh how soon we forget when we have something new and shiny to swoon over.

He has had unbelievable one lap speed.

Keep it real fan-boyz...

I was working on the assumption that he would replace Rossi. Vinales can't get his head right with an aging has been as a team mate, let alone a rapid championship challenging kid.

I'm pretty sure if he continues to contest wins and potentially championships whilst the factory team battle just to get the odd podium, there is nothing to stop him driving development in his direction regardless of factory or satellite status. As has been proven historically (Gibernau for eg) being the number one rider need not require one to have a seat in the factory squad. Whatever keeps the rider happiest and motivated is what the rider should receive in my opinion. If that means the Petronas liveried team gets the best equipment and a few top engineers from the factory garage then so be it. Why upset the apple cart when the rider is clearly very happy, settled, and has made no mumurs about wanting a Monster seat?

Edit to add: the interview was in Italian so something might have gotten lost in translation. Maybe Rossi didn’t really mean to sound like sour grapes in English. Italian speaking folks on here can clarify that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to take away from Marcs win, it was pretty awesome how he put it all on the line to win when he didn't really have to and would have taken the flag anyway (that's kind of what I like about him).

IMO Marc wasn't exactly in a position to pull the trigger with 4 laps to go and make a run for it? Fabio had the pace to match him or better, Mare won that race having superior racecraft more so than superior pace.
