2019 Motegi - Motul Grand Prix of Japan

According to Hodgson Yamaha tested new parts in Misano, on Qartararos's bike. He said the huge influence Rossi had at Yamaha seems fading.

I really feel sorry for Vinales. Quite clear poor lad never had a chance.

From the article:

Some Rossi aficionados offered their support, though.

“He is 40 years old before anyone here says bad about him remember that you all won't even be 1 per cent as successful as he is,” commented a fan.

“Totally agree! Always support Vale,” replied another supporter.
Fking stupid ... comments that I often see among the mustard crowd. Rossi should be compared to his peers or teammates or among the Yamaha riders. Why would some ....... compare Rossi to us mere mortals ? Of course we are not 1% as successful as Rossi is, captain obvious!!

They just love the straw man arguments.

Uncle Carmelo may still be keen though, and Yamaha struggled for sponsorship while Valentino was at Ducati, but him transitioning to be the Yamaha team principal as you imply might address most of that. I guess being flogged by MM as a team manager may lack appeal for him as well.

This had me laughing Michael. I had never considered that.

Entirely unsurprisingly the same standards have never and don’t now apply to any number of Rossi rivals cf MM, Lorenzo, Stoner, Hayden and even going back to non-premier class champions such as Max and Sete in regard to whom they have seen no need to restrict themselves as far as trenchant criticism is concerned despite those riders, and MM in particular, being rather more comparable with Rossi than the members of the cult element among Rossi fandom are with them.

Petronas yama beating factory yama again. I still wonder wtf is all wrong with yama. Same .... last year. Same .... the year before. Lacking grip, lacking speed. Wtf is rossi doing? Having his worst season ever in yama. Finishing 3rd last year, looking at 7th this year. Wtf is lorenzo doing? Wtf is petrux doing? Jack should have the factory duc seat. Ducati needs to sort their steering out. Can barely turn. Dovi has been on the honda before. Dovi to repsol and lorenzo back to duc? Suzuki? Ye, not there yet either. marc has found the perfect set up on the honda. Then again lorenzo has been injured pretty much the whole season. Lets wait and see for a healtho jlo on the honda. Vin having problems with the yama the first half of the season and rossi the later half. Major issues.

Vinales as a Rossi team mate had 0 chance of anything.

If he did better than Rossi there was always the chance Rossi could steer the development away from Vinales like he did in 2017.

Happened once and it would happen to him again for sure if Yamaha/Lin/Ezpeleta though Rossi still had any slight chance of winning.....a race. Not even the WC.

I also think Maverick can thank Rins for beating Rossi when Marc dumped it earlier this ear.

That probably buried any hopes he had and it was all downhill after that.

To be completely honest this serves him right and deserves all the pain that is going his way.

My pop corn is ready, this gonna be fun.

couple of points:

almost every rider contract is up after next season...
-Dovi makes a lot of sense on a Honda, but a lot of other pieces would have to fall in place to make that happen.

-Rossi still brings in the money, and because of that will have a ride as long as he wants one.

-it is entirely possible that Lorenzo gets back on a Ducati, the team has expressed interest and he may need a ride.

-Jack deserves a factory ride, he is having better race weekends, will it be on a Ducati?

-Marc will make considerably more money if he leaves Honda

Ask Lorenzo if the extra money is worth the less wins.

I think the factory Yamaha teams problem is their riders.
Rossi is old and seems to be going downhill at a rapid rate. Whether there is other factors at play such as confidence, development going away from him etc. hasn’t been confirmed.
Maverick can’t race for ...., he’s an excellent rider but his race craft is terrible. He spends too much time behind guys he quicker can while he fails to make passes, then probably burns up his tyres in the process.

Yamaha has been getting a lot of .... for their bike but here’s the final standings from the past 3 years since Lorenzo left.
2017 - 3, 5, 6, 10.
2018 - 3, 4, 6
2019 - 4, 6, 7 which will likely be 3, 4, 7-9 by the end of the year. And their four bikes are likely to all finish in the top 10.
Sure they can’t get a win often lately but that can be put down to Marquez’s total domination, Mavericks inability to overtake and Rossi being past it.

Also anyone else notice how they kept mentioning that Taka was taking off the final rounds to have surgery and heal an injury for next season but not once was it mentioned he was injured after being taken out by Rossi.

Not taking anything away from any Moto2 world champions, but having the Moto2 world championship does not guarantee results when transitioning to MotoGP.

Personally, If my goal was to race in MotoGP I'd much rather be the rider with more MotoGP experience mixing it with the big boys, on a superior MotoGP bike and have a premier class win under my belt, than be the same age and be a MotoGP rookie with a Moto2 World Championship to my name.

Yep, skipping Moto2 has not been detrimental at all to Miller. Even though in my opinion he is not a title contender on any bike , he has cemented himself a spot as a top 10 rider who will have a seat for probably the next 2-3 contract cycles. Not a bad living. Alex May very well get a Moto 2 title , but that and 2 bucks will get you a cup of coffee . Miller has been banking GP money for the last 5 years

Yes, I have a theory about this.

In Spanish broadcast they not once mentioned Rossi or talked about his downfall, not even after crashing.

Had it been any of the top 5 or 6 from the race they would have been saying how they are dropping the ball, doing like .... etc.

I get the feeling they are banned from talking .... on him.

I know many reporters still have their nose up Rossi's ... but I also know Criville hates his guts and would talk shitloads of .... if he was allowed to.

I remember back in the 2007-2012 era where Crivi only had eyes for Stoner, dude was so in love of his Riding and speed & was pissed at the bad luck Stoner had all the time.

I watch the foxtel broadcast in Australia and they also never mentioned Rossi dnf until after the race was run. I don't think the same as you though, I think the commentators were unaware. The cameras were elsewhere in the race at the moment, and the commentators missed the moment. Nothing more, nothing less.

They saw him fall and mentioned he fell, that is it. Not a single comment more.

Live btw.
