i would assume it's because yam still use an inline 4 engine which i would imagine is harder to conceal the exaust and keep the weight down and everything cool. the honda has moved its exaust out in the open as well if i remember correctly.

Its yamaha's traditional design... i can see a few years in the doldrums in the future when they have to change it.

No ..... I think they ripped off Casey's bike and painted it and slapped on a 46. (After they ripped off Casey's tires of course).
Nah really though, it does look like a Ducati in disguise.
