The wave bouy off Durnabah (Tweed Heads) recorded its biggest ever wave (trough to peak) last week, 11 metres!!!!
Sure has been some big surf on teh east coast teh last week or so hey?
We have had around 4 - 5 metres at times down my way which makes for some spectacular sights when you sit and watch them roll in and onto rocks.
Meh ..... 11 metres ..... 5 metres ..... tiddly winks!! ........
there's only Xmas 74 that counts
Houses washed into the sea on the Central Coast the caravan park, complete with caravans, washed into Terrigal Haven. 3 houses went in up the beach a bit.
We drove out the the Carpark at Soldiers Beach Norah Head ( up on a headland ) and it felt like a wave would come over the headland at any time!!
And two guys went out and tried to surf it
As to the coastline ..... it was smashed ... I would even say that there was Pre 74 and Post 74 ..... lots of places never looked the same as they did Pre 74.
11 metres though thats a pretty big one ...... did they say it was a one off? ( rogue ), or was the swell that big in general?
