The wave bouy off Durnabah (Tweed Heads) recorded its biggest ever wave (trough to peak) last week, 11 metres!!!!

Sure has been some big surf on teh east coast teh last week or so hey?

We have had around 4 - 5 metres at times down my way which makes for some spectacular sights when you sit and watch them roll in and onto rocks.

Meh ..... 11 metres ..... 5 metres ..... tiddly winks!! ........

there's only Xmas 74 that counts

Houses washed into the sea on the Central Coast the caravan park, complete with caravans, washed into Terrigal Haven. 3 houses went in up the beach a bit.

We drove out the the Carpark at Soldiers Beach Norah Head ( up on a headland ) and it felt like a wave would come over the headland at any time!!

And two guys went out and tried to surf it

<

As to the coastline ..... it was smashed ... I would even say that there was Pre 74 and Post 74 ..... lots of places never looked the same as they did Pre 74.
<

11 metres though thats a pretty big one ...... did they say it was a one off? ( rogue ), or was the swell that big in general?

You forgot the rock washed onto the Haven Oval.

I know about it because I was around 7 at the time and mum&dad drove us out to have a look around, plus dad was involved in the clean up efforts.

The houses washed into see off Wamberal were later, around '78/79 from memory as were those at Avoca.

I grew up at Gosford/Wyoming so know the area well but preferred it when it had the Florida pub and not the yuppy crap it does now (moved south 11 years ago)

Now, back on topic. Bikes go vrooooom really quick when Stoner rides.

IMO and as Michael has said, the man to beat is always the defending champion and when that champion is Rossi you need to beat millions and millions of people.

not taking credit away here i know hes on the throttle before everyone else but im not buying the TC thing

Watch (I think) laguna race from last year 2 reasons, 1 - excellent race, 2 - on board telemetry you can see for yourself who pins the throttle and when!

then you can appreciate when the TC is on!!!!

Santa claus, the tooth fairy and on board telemetry as displayed on motogp broadcasts. Stoner may well use more tc than rossi but I would suggest tv telemetry is not the most reliable place to look for hard evidence of same.

I claim no expertise but it seems to me that the performance characteristics of the bikes and the approach to cornering of the two riders is fairly different. Perhaps yamaha should take over the design of the ducati and stoner should be forced to take exactly the same lines through corners as rossi so that he can't have any unfair advantage
