I wonder if Nicky will be there?
<
(I know I know, but I'm thinking maybe he will be there as a spectator?...)

Anyway, I will be there. Anybody else? Who on here will at least watch it? Do you boys in Europe and Oz get any coverage? What event are you most interested in?

I noticed they had a best moments compilation, and the #1 is Tony Hawk's 900. Ok, that's a great accomplishment, but how in the hell does that trump Travis Pastrana's double backflip???? If you look at the video of Tony Hawk's attempt, he tries it over and over, until he gets it right. Anybody think a person attempting a double backflip would have that luxury? And talk about something never again attempted, because if you get it wrong, you die. That's it, no coming back from a bad attempt. RIP, Jeremy Lusk proved how dangerous Freestyle MotoX can be. It’s insane that this double backflip would not be head and shoulders above the rest. I thought about it and realized its a voting by the "fans" thing, so no wonder the skateboard trick would win; .... I can imagine a bunch of 13 year-olds voting all day long, that is while they have a moment in between changing the video game.

Jumkie, agreed the 900 although a great accomplishment does pale in comparison to a double back flip with no margin of error. I think I've only seen one other person pull it off since Pastrana and it wasn't pretty.
I'll be tuned into the X-Games for sure. My favorite events to watch are the SuperMoto, BMX dirt jumping, and Moto-X step up.
I know you'll take the camera so I'll be looking forward to some of your posts after the event.

Mos Def. Hey check this out, just read this:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>More than 200 of the best action sports athletes including motocross champion, James Stewart. It was announced in a press conference today that Stewart has signed on with Team San Manuel and, in addition, will compete in ESPN's X Games 15 (XG15 site)

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>2009 Supercross champ James Stewart will be making his X Games debut this year, competing in Moto X Super X (that's what Moto X Racing is being called this year), but that's just the start of it. As of now, joining Stewart on the starting line will be last year's Moto X gold medalist Josh Hansen, Aussie stronghold Chad Reed, Jeremy McGrath (no introduction needed), Kevin Windham, Jason Lawrence, Broc Hepler — and the list keeps going.

Is it possible Stewart will try his had a some roadracing discipline? He's on the invited list for supermoto.

BTW, so is 250 GP rider, Steve Bonsey is also on the list for supermoto.

For anybody interested in a sore loser, Chad Reed is on the invited list for Moto X Super X (its a supercross style event). If I see him, I'm gonna tell him that ...... move he pull on James was like Tyson's ear bite (and you know I will do it).
<

Yea, I read that on the entry list as well. They are having a MotoX race for the guys and girls, can't recall if they've ever done that before.
Oh, did you see Kevin Windham on the entry list for step up? That should be interesting.

Not really into these X-games... it's catered more towards pre-teens and adolescents. It's just not a serious competition event, more of a show-off then anything.

X-Games is right up Nicky Hayden's alley if you ask me.... he's the perfect poster boy for it.
<

Im not a hardcore fan of the skateboards and bikes but i do like to watch its really cool to see what some of these guys can do! the supermoto is bad ... only true bike enthusiast can appreciate supermoto because it combines dirt and street some dudes dream come true. Being that its in my city ill be attending at least 1 event

Just the kind of comment I'd expect from you. You really are a muppet. <span style="color:#FF00FFThe Pink one has been making better posts than you lately

Anyroad this vid is just for you ...... bag(by the way, there is a guy well more of a legend really in this vid called Jeff Ward, go tell him that the x games are "not a serious competition event")

damn, that's the only footage I've seen of Nicky from the X-Games last year. I was curious how he was doing in the dirt section as it was one of the more technical dirt sections I've seen in a Supermoto race. Nick represented himself well from what I could see.

Great eye my friend. Actually the dirt sections were out of this world and really NOT proper to "supermoto". The problem is they used the MotoX SuperX track (its the event that is a short supercross race) which is not really correct for the "supermoto" set up. I think it was a big oversight and shows that the organizers did NOT know the sport well enough (or maybe were too lazy to make a more "supermotoesk" type dirt section). Consider this, 70% of a supermoto track is pavement, so the "dirtbike" is set up accordingly. Can you imagine how "soft" the suspensions needed to be to negotiate those monster jumps then go on to tarmac? It would be like taking a superCross bike and slapping slicks on it then going 70% of the time on pavement. Its just ........! That dirt section was WAAY to ....... aggressive and not appropriate. Add to this, as I hung around last year like some fly on the wall, I heard riders say as much. I hope this year they made it more like a proper supermoto track.

Take a look at the video again, when they are going over the dirt section, it looks more like a superCross race you are viewing rather than a superMoto.

ABSOLUTELY!!! YOU GOT THAT ...... RIGHT! (Only a supermoto guy or somebody with a knowledge of the sport would pick that up. The dirt section was a complete stupidity!)

Well I think Wardy's moto-x experience showed in that particular race...in fact the guy who finished 2nd Horton was a kid I watched here in the South dominate moto-x for years.

The other guy is some goof ball from the u.p.( upper peninsula of Michigan) I cant remember his name, but he has something stupid up his sleeve this year. Can you say triple back? I will watch everything on two wheels. And whatever else I catch. The rally car race is sweet also.

Oh yea totally agree but I was'nt making any refrence to the track. All X Games supermoto tracks are ..... imo

has it come and gone??

That track is laughable... If i ever meet the guy who desided to use that MX track for Supermoto I will PUNCH him in the butthole.

X games rule.
From someone who grew up riding BMX, skating half pipes and idolizing the kid down the
street who owned dirt bikes, the X games are a a true pleasure to watch.
The first X games were held in my little hometown of Newport RI.
It's blown up so much now it could never be held in such a small town again.

I'm too lazy to look.
When does it start?

Pastrana says that he warms up with double backs now. Not sure if he was telling a joke or what
<
. It was when they were interviewing him for his new trick, which was the backflip twisty thingy. He landed hard on his ..., lucky he didn't break anything.

I like all the events pretty much. I watch them all. It's absolutely amazing what some of these dudes will try. Medics make their money at these X-Games that's for sure.

If I was to point out one event that I really liked it would have been the rally car event although I pretty much liked everything.

Yea, I watched all of the Moto stuff, not so much of the skateboarding stuff though.
I will say that if Hayden had participated in Super Moto this year he would have liked the track better. I do wish the organizers could find a good compromise for the Super Moto track though, this year IMO it was too easy.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (L8Braker @ Aug 3 2009, 06:20 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Well Jumkie...X-Games are over, got any good stories to tell?

I went Friday and Saturday. It was lots of fun. I got to see the best trick competition on Friday, just about everybody got hurt. Seriously, everybody crashed the first attempt, some didn't make it back out. Travis Pastrana tried a backflip 360 variation, his bike landed on it side with him still straddled to it. He laded on his ... and on foot under the bike. Ouch. He didn’t make it out for the second attempt. I was bummed, but happy to see the attempt. He said he lads the trip about one in every 10 attempts, so you can imagine just how narly and difficult it was. Everybody held their collective breath.

The dude that won the best trick was the same dude from last year. He did a backflip himself while the bike stayed upright on the jump. That’s just crazy I know, but he won it last year with the same trick.

The judges were a bit inconsistent I think. They also had a BMX competition at the same venue (Staples Center had the "big air" events, while the Home Depot Center had most everything else). Anyway, this kid does a 'double FRONT flip on the BMX bike and the dude didn't get scored enough to make the podium. Everybody was booing and stayed booing for a while. It was the first attempt and landing of this trick ever. So how it didn't get the first place was mind-boggling.

On Saturday they had the skateboard/bmx park & vert events, and the moto events in the stadium. Clarky rode up from San Diego and came with me. (Amazing, you gotta love a forum that not only makes fellow GP friends, but now other motorsports). Anyway, we saw the supermoto. They didn't use the supercross portion of the track this year, which I'm happy to report. Even though the jumps they did use were a bit too big. If you have a chance check out the videos. They were gettting some good air. But it was fine, no major incidents or crashes. The race heated up at the end. Wardy started off in second place but he faded back a bit.

Ok...I'm being summoned, will continue later. Will also post some pics . (Sorry for interruption)
