The first round in the World Touring Car Championship 2007 starts tommorow, but today at 18:00 British time today on British Eurosport you can see the qualifying and build up to the races with Great Britain's Andy Priaulx trying to regain his title.

Do we have any WTCC fans here on the forum? I haven't followed it before and have said to myself that I am going to watch it deeply this year, probably along with the British Touring Cars which I watched on and off last year.

It's Retain mate!

I like it, sometimes a bit too rough and cheaty for me though...in the sense they bang into each other without consideration.

Where is the first round mate? Mexico?

Rounds 1 & 2 are held in Brazil at a place called Curitiba. The next 2 rounds are held in the Netherlands and the 2 rounds after that are held in Spain.

They do bump each other around but that's a part of the racing. Of course they can't collide into them at 100mph and try to send them into the tyre wall but with stock cars on a relatively small width track you're bound to get some mistakes and bumps.

Yeah i kept an eye on it last year when i realized the drivers and manufacturer support was above the british series level. The racing is excellent and i am looking foreward to seeing how it goes tomorrow.

That's Andy Priaulx from Guernsey, Channel Islands. I've often wondered why he stands under the union flag instead of his own.

They were two relatively exciting races, but those BMW's are just too damn fast, its not fair and i hope something changes. It was nice to see the home kid win, but a great shame that there was never a real chance to see what Chevrolet had. Its asking for trouble to have a stupid chicane as the first corner for a touring car race, but never mind.

And amazingly Andy Priaulx is leading the championship but it's still a 3-way tie. The BMW's were just a gear ahead of everyone else, but nice to ssee the proper home boy who was born and grew up literally just down the road from where they were racing to win the 2nd race.

I was planning the same trip if I could make it, Kent is a good few hours away though but it'll be worth it!

well i think it lands on the sunday i should be heading back to uni in leeds, so it wont be easy for me. I might have to miss the first day of the year.......

Can somebody please tell me why they sometimes (or allways??) have ballast on cars. I was amazed by those three BMW-s passing all the others, and then I heard commentator saying they were aproved to carry 15 kg less ballast.

I started to watch WTCC in 2005, but last year I decided to follow DTM rather then WTCC. This year I'll try both.
