Cal seems very fast. I know they got some Italian guy to do 40 laps at Brno. Apparently he did some stuff with the setup too. Do you think Cal has taken all or part of his setup?

Cal needs to start winning some races or else he will get the same reputation as Smrz. Great qualifyer, so so racer. No excuses, go get you one Cal,then they will come in bunches. The bike is a proven winner, its time someone starts ridimg it like one.

Great work by Smrz. Too bad he couldn't get a handle on the bike last week at home.

First sign of doubt for the new Kawasaki: Yanagawa does not like the Pirellis. Great. They apparently haven't even put WSBK tires on the new SBK and their best test rider can't make them work.

Cal's laptime is pretty amazing.

I know raceday is what counts, but the past 2 races he's been 0.7 secs ahead of the field in superpole. Impressive stuff.

FIM Superbike & Supersport World Championships

FIM Superstock Cup

- Changes to the Regulations -

The Superbike Commission, composed of Mr Paolo Flammini (IMS), Claude Danis (FIM) and Giulio Bardi (Team representative) in the presence of FIM President Vito Ippolito, during a meeting held on 31 July in Silverstone, unanimously decided to introduce the following modifications to the Road Racing Superbike & Supersport World Championships and FIM Superstock Cup regulations.

Application 2011

Sporting regulations

The maximum age for Superstock riders is 26 years.

The first free practices will be organized on Friday morning.

Superbike teams may present for technical control a maximum of two (2) motorcycles per rider, for each event. Supersport and Superstock teams may present for technical control a maximum of one (1) motorcycle plus one (1) spare engine per rider, for each event.

Technical regulations

Superbike

The minimum weight of all motorcycles (165 or 166 or 167kg) will be announced by the end of September. The minimum weight adjustment system will be modified accordingly.

The method of cam drive (chain, belt or gears) must remain as on the homologated motorcycle unless a complete kit is available through normal commercial channels.

Only one front wheel rim width is allowed: 3.50in.

Supersport

The minimum weight of all motorcycles (161 or 162 or 163kg) will be announced by the end of September.

The material of the fairing may be changed, but the use of carbon fibre is not allowed.

Reinforcements in Kevlar® or carbon fibre are allowed around holes and other stressed areas.

Superstock

All engine gaskets may be changed.

The material of the fairing may be changed, but the use of carbon fibre is not allowed. Reinforcement in Kevlar® or carbon fibre are allowed around holes and other stressed areas.

Gear driven cams outlawed immediately after they are allowed.
<

One bike rule in Supersport w/ one spare engine.
<

Carbon fiber banned
<

Supersport is not affordable b/c the engines can't survive a single race weekend. Now they punish the mechanics by requiring them to work overtime to repair a bike that would otherwise have been scrapped or replaced with a spar. Banning carbon fiber makes sense b/c it's a waste of money.

Anyone know of any live feeds for the Silverstone SBK?

Would be appreciated as its not shown in Australia on free to air.

PM would be great.

Cheers

Actually he said: "I used another tyre manufacturer when racing in Japan and this makes a lot of difference, especially in the corners. The World Superbike machine has a lot of power and a lot of electronics, so although the bike is nice to ride, the electronics can take over control on the exit of the corners. I have to learn to trust the electronics and work with them."

You may be right though, but if they did not develop the new 10R to work with the tires, which are used in their main target championship...
<
well, in this case they are a bunch of ....... who deserve their fate.
<

What is also interesting that he mentions the work with too much electronics was difficult. Actually I thought that the new 10R would have a very advanced electronic package and their ex-MotoGP development team took a main part of the bike's design so they have to be familiar with even more advanced electronics.

Anyhow, we will see...I just hope at least the new frame+swingarm+suspension combo will move them forward into the mid-pack next year.

Yes, he is fast as hell on quali tires but I am sure Rea will be the main contender for the wins. Maybe Haslam and Fabrizio can get there but I smell a JR-double.
