WSBK Rd4 - ASSEN !

Not really as close as I was expecting, but it looks like we may have an unexpected winner this weekend. Haslam and Haga look to be a bit off. Biaggi looks even worse. Time will tell I suppose. Lots of guys are probably making adjustments to the new section.

WSS looks like Sofuoglu is going to walk off with it.

Usually Haga is in the top 10 and within a second at least. Wonder what's going on with him? I'm sure he'll improve but I'm a little worried for him. Looks like Haslam has a pretty good shot at the double. Smrz is a one lap wonder, Rea can't put together a whole race without making a huge mistake. Corser will fade. Crutchlow and Camier is with Rea

For real. What's his malfunction this weekend?

Maybe he knows Assen is a great place to get yourself killed so he's just takin' it easy until it really counts.

Biaggi managed a 5th last year and had a podium finish at Assen on the Suzuki in '07. He has rode this track for probably over half his life. This year we all know he and Aprilia are much faster.

Quote from the press release:
Biaggi: "We tried different setups, obviously trying to improve, but maybe the route we chose wasn't the best one, so for the last laps I even changed bikes. Now we need to think about the choices we've made so that tomorrow morning we have a clear idea of how to proceed. Above all we need to try and find better traction which is what we need the most at Assen".

In regards to Haga, the man seems to be having a hard time with the new corner. Xerox should be setting the goal of getting him into Superpole 3 so he can be in the first two rows, we all know that's all he needs to win.

Here's what Haga has to say on the day:
"I'm still trying to understand how best to tackle the new corner, I don't especially like that point of the track and I'm losing precious tenths in the second split. We have however improved somewhat during the day and I know we can perform better tomorrow, I just need more time on the track but I'm feeling confident."

OTOH a mare for Biaggi - 48 laps to finish 15th
Vermin not as healed as he thought?

I'm gonna walk over to Haga's pitbox tomorrow and kick him in the butt. Sheesh. I know he can't qualify, but this is ridiculous.

I really wish Hayden would stop screwing around on the Pedercini and go hop on the Motocard.com Kawasaki. He might actually score some results.

Damn, if you can just go hop on a bike, why the .... would you pick a Kawasaki. I would pick any other bike in the paddock.

b/c Honda is the evil empire and Kawasaki is the only other factory ride in WSS.

Man, sometimes it's just hard to root for him.

It's officially time to declare openly that there is a CRISIS at Ducati Corse. Their WSBK effort is in freefall and something is terribly wrong!!

Please do! Actually kick the new team manager in the butt too. Oh and smack Fabrizio just for good measure. Come race day, who knows, maybe Haga will pull another fabulous start and put it in damage control mode to keep in touch with the points.

Is Tardozzi gone having an effect perhaps? There has been talk the new team manager doesn't step up and make the important decisions that should be made. For example, telling his riders when they should be using a quali tire in Superpole (remember Haga missing out of SP2). On the flip side, look at BMW, not saying that the efforts of Corser and the team aren't the real reason why they are going so well now, but having Tardozzi sure isn't killing them.

Regarding the qualifying today. First off the new fast corner, Ruskenhoek I believe, good stuff. However the change to the corner near the end of track, where they moved the curb in and left it flat, not good, really unsettles the bike there, did you see JT run off after that corner, scary stuff.

Awesome job Rea, first pole. Could he have a non-mistake weekend and win a race or two for home town boys Ten Kate? Will Corser be able to keep the pace the whole race and finally nab a podium for BMW? I certainly hope so. Haslam is still right up there, he's got some excellent race craft and a very strong will to win, he could be standing on top. Looking to be a great weekend.

Cue a frenetic flurry of frantic letters from Bologna prompting yet another audience with the Flammini's and a resultant mysterious overnight metamorphosis form 1198 to 1298cc
